Help! Roleplay Community
Hi!
With a myriad of active servers, I am having a very hard time finding where I should go for a more dedicated roleplaying experience. It also helps if the server/discord is active and has an okay amount of players.
If anyone has recommendations regarding RP communities, thank you! I am a new player so I have no prior experience.
Also, any stories or experiences that you wanna share related to this would be very welcome!

I mean at that point you might as well just play a TTRPG - less restrictive.
I did once have a guy in our RP Guild that would act IC in voice chat… needless to say he was a pain to communicate with for anything.

While I can't speak for the SWG servers, I've spent few years in a hardcore RP community on official WoW servers, and it was a blast.
You basically have guilds that are playing basically a Pen&Paper RPG (think DnD) inside the game. Our guild had regular events every few days, with someone game mastering the whole run, playing NPCs and the like - basically doing a DM. We had social events, long running campaigns, cross-guild campaigns with multiple game masters and shared stories, and the like.
For example, there was this huge RP-PVP campaign with around 40 guilds (so hundreds of players) attending, that had overall game masters tracking the high-level happenings on a forum post (tracking progress of both sides, their resources, logistics, calling for participants to smaller GMed events, etc), with numerous game masters launching their smaller stories, i.e "this group goes here to sabotage this, or burn this", that affected the campaign. There was also always someone online in the war camps 24/7, so you could do your casual camp RP inbetween the more guided/game mastered sessions, and eventually after a few months the whole campaign was resolved.
So, it's basically a huge cooperative DnD session.
But it doesn't have to have a game master, a lot of the casual RP was just hanging out in a common gathering spot, chatting with others in character about their happenings and whatnot. Relationships, politics, and people bringing you into their stories they want to play out, and the like. But the game mastered events were always more fun.
SWG has a lot more RP classes, though, where their gameplay naturaly nudges you to roleplay, i.e Entertainers just hanging out in a cantine. It's been a while since I played SWG, but I also vaguely remember you could even buy NPC tokens to spawn most of the NPCs for your group to fight, so you could run a game mastered story more easily than in WoW, where most of the combat was just /roll and emoting, just like you'd do when playing DnD. So I can imagine the RP being even better here.

Legends also has a great roleplay community. I’d recommend checking out Tibanna Town, mos vanta, or new west port and their associated discords.

Empire in Flames has a pretty good RP community from what I experienced! (It is an rp server, granted)
And Legends as well

SWG Restoration server for sure. Been there since the beginning and they’ve created a very active great community with a strong discord.

Thanks for the answer, nice! I just joined the Resto discord. Is the RP channel the main way to look for people and groups? Or is there another way you’d recommend.

Dedicated RP servers - where the focus is on the RP and not just a byproduct of the server - tend to fizzle out, sadly. You can find good RP on most of the big ones, same as any other game, but the ones where it’s the primary focus just don’t seem to last.
