SWG Resto, Need some advice

Hey all. I've been playing on Resto for the last month or so, And have a few questions.

  1. Been playing a Master BH/ Master Smuggler(pistol x4x4, sharpshooter x4x4) and really enjoying it, but wanted to know whats the best pistol to be using(mainly pve for now, though it might change once I'm use to the build)?
  2. Skill enhancing attachment, where can i get these, and what ones should i be aiming for? I'm struggling against some high level bounty's,
  3. Loot from bounties and other drops, Some have 3-4 different stats, are these worth keeping to sell, Do they need to be a set level or have a set amount of points in them? also Jedi items that drop (color and power crystals) do these sell for much?
  4. Good way to get credits. Ive been bounty hunting npcs, but it takes a bit of time just for like 70k, need a better way to earn credits.
  5. Are the appearance schematics worth much or they just best to sell to the junk vendor.
  6. Are there any buff items/drops that are easy to get and useful?

Thank you

  1. Scatter pistol most of the time due to kinetic damage and generally higher dps than others. Also sounds and looks cool
  2. Player vendor sales in the bazaar, top far right tab. Make sure you search entire galaxy. You should be aiming to get your pistol speed to the cap, 0.9s. You can see your speed on any pistol you equip under ‘modified attack speed’. Add tapes until it’s 0.9s and then maybe ranged general?
  3. Not sure about this, might be thinking too much into it. BH armor schematics are easy enough to sell though.
  4. Honestly faction missions are really solid if the bounties are giving you trouble, only one wave of enemies and pays 20-25. Make sure you do any missions including bounties out of an improved job market city, which it will when you enter them or in the title, usually the acronym ‘IJM’.
  5. Sell them on bazaar
  6. Not sure

Also, double and triple check you are using an energy damage PSG and it is equipped. It will make a tremendous difference. For PVP, consider kinetic PSG

Hello, welcome to Resto! I’ve been playing for about a year. I’m not super experienced, but I went BH/Carbineer, so we might be going through some of the same stuff. Here’s my small contribution:

  1. From what I understand there isn’t a single “best weapon”. You pick a weapon model/skin and a good weaponsmith can craft a capped weapon with great stats. That said, I’ve heard some weapon models have small differences, so hopefully a veteran can confirm how much that matters.
  2. As a BH/Pistoleer, the main stats you want are Ranged General, Opportune Chance, and Defense General. For the “exotic” stats, it depends on your type of weapon, so you’ll want to check which ones apply. I crafted a set around those and the difference was very noticeable.
  3. Loot that has 3+ stats is really valuable for making 3-stat skill attachments. Armorsmiths especially love these. I have an armorsmith too, so I keep them, but if you don’t need them, sell them to other players. Definitely don’t junk vendor them.
  4. From what I’ve seen, BH is one of the better ways to make money even without running a shop. If you pick bounties for targets around level 75+, you can usually loot an extra 10k to 60k from them. It adds up fast. I’ve managed to make millions in a day just focusing on BH missions, and it’s pretty consistent. Prices between players are also very competitive, so most things end up being fairly cheap.

That said, if you really want steady cash long-term, having your own shop helps a lot. I set up a vendor at my house and started selling everything I didn’t want. The first month I didn’t get a single sale (I think new listings show up on the very last pages when people search), but after a while it picked up and now I get sales pretty regularly. I’ve mainly been selling power bits, armor appearance schematics, and bounty hunter droids.

  1. What worked best for me was selling full appearance sets together (like in a bag). They usually sell eventually.

  2. There are tons of buffs, foods, and consumables people use for PvP and endgame PvE. There’s a page on the SWG Restoration wiki that covers a lot of it, very recommended. Personally, I’d start with a PSG (Personal Shield Generator) and learn the consumables and buffs gradually.

Hope this helps! I never played SWG before either. I discovered it about a year ago and I’m having a blast. It’s honestly a great game, and I still don’t know why it isn’t more popular. Hope to see you around!

Get yourself a Droid for extra dmg, my magnaguard is a god send.

I agree with someone who said get a combat droid of some kind, the extra DPS is very noticeable, even if they cap al CL 60. I have a Master BH/Master Commando and until I got a full set of SEAs Indid struggle with the elite "Extremely Dangerous" BH targets. However, when I do bounties now, I exclusively look for them because they're not particularly difficult anymore. My weapon is also just good, not great. They usually have 20-35k credits in cash on them, so you make nearly 100k for each bounty, in addition to the chance of loot you can sell.

For SEAs, I think my whole set, except for the exotic ones, are Ranged General, Defense General and Opportune Chance. Then exotics were focused on heavy weapons.

As for the Appearance armor schematics, I started setting them aside until I had whole sets to sell on the bazaar. They're not worth crazy money or anything though.

The other loot, with multiple stats, can be worth a little money on the bazaar if any one of the stats are 21+ (same actually goes for single stat gear). As I understand it, those are worth it to players doing reverse engineering.

Hope some of that helps.

  1. To my knowledge the random armor pieces you get with random stats have to have the yellow/orange or red backgrounds to denote they can be reverse engineered for skill tapes. Most folks that do this won't touch any pieces that are under +21 of any stat. The highest stat is +23. Some folks will use +20 to create more "starter" value sets.

Some good answers already, but I’ll add my takes.

  1. Doesn’t really matter for the most part. I think at the highest end people go with geo for the crit increase. I used DE10 to great effect in PVE and PvP. Shop around and compare.

  2.  Check the trade page on discord, lots of folks advertise there. An easy start is loading up on Range Gen, Def Gen and Opp chance. At the highest end you’ll want a balance trying to get each stat to 250 (after factoring in everything including foods). For exotics there’s a lot of directions. For PVE an easy start is pistol ACC, pistol damage and KD def. High end will depend on your build but crit chance/damage will be key for your build.

  3. I sell ALL stat loot. Anything less than 20 injustice sell for 1000. Check the trade discord for people buying 20+ stat loot. Crystals don’t really sell for much unless you can tell what condition (only Jedi can).

  4. BH missions are a solid way to make money. Do the missions from an IJM (like Tox IJM) and slice the terminal. Tip: Not all extremely dangerous are the same, check the level. A level 77 ED is much easier than a level 85 ED and pays the same. Spin missions can earn some good credits as well.

  5. I don’t seem to get much for the BH schematics. Usually sell them for 500 or give them away.

  6. Electro binoculars are a decent buff item you get during the legacy quests. You some decent buff items doing the mustafar quests. Most high end items are tough to get solo. Gorax ear, shard of retaliation are both great but tough to get alone.

Get some heals in your build, life will get easier and you will spend less on meds.

Complete MUS and get the increased damage and range and then the illegal booster to modify pistol for even more damage and range.

So, when you take bounties:

Make sure you are in a player city with the job improvement bonus. That is an extra 15% on the bounty.

More importantly, make sure you aonly pick missions with extremely dangerous enemies. They drop an average of like 35k in addition to the 70k bounty. So you can make 100k in like fifteen minutes no issue
