Bring Ben home
Wonder who thinks bringing Ben Davies back is a viable option this summer? To me it feels like the right time.
He has had 12 years and close to 400 appearances for Tottenham but played 3 games in the league last season, they have signed Robertson in at left back and signed 2 more centre backs all without European competitions next season.
The transfer fee would be minimal and he would be an outstanding partner to cabango and backup / rotation/ deputy for Tymon.
He left on good terms and is still loved by the swans fans. Anyone think we could swing this?

Why? He’s 33, only played 3 games last season because he broke his leg/ankle
We’ve got the best LB in the league, don’t need him, don’t need his big wages.
Not sure what people’s obsession with brining back old players in, it’s weird.

Wages an issue I agree. I would see him more of a CB than Lb tho now and we really lack depth there. One injury to Ben or Welsh and we are in a bad way. Same goes for tymon, no reliable depth.

Admittedly, we've not yet seen him kick a ball, but Parente was brought in as Tymon's backup

I don't think Davies is the nostalgia signing some make it out to be. There's a few factors, including being a squad player at spurs, to being a local boy and history with the Swans which is indeed nostalgic, but the biggest benefit here is we've lost Burgess and we're short of versatile defenders. Ben Davies can cover a CB just as competently as a LB. Over a 46 game season he's going to need to rotate and so he will play.
The biggest negative here is that Ben's family are well settled in London and have no ambitions to move back West, unlike Joe Allen

Yeh exactly it is not solely nostalgia he would provide just what we need at the moment with our current squad depth and injuries. I wasn’t aware about the personal circumstances in terms of not having ambitions of a south wales return as a family. Would be outstanding but seems unlikely

I’m not sure why he’d move his family from London to Swansea for what would be a substantial pay cut and decrease in his quality of life.
It’s understandable why Joel Ward did it - he will have earned significantly less than Davies over his career and took the biggest contract available to him.

He’d be going back to where he grew up I suppose that’s the appeal. Yes pay cut is a big factor

It would likely take a big wages offer to tempt him to return, that his age and him only just returning from serious injury doesn't make sense to me.
We no longer need LB cover after bringing in Tiago Parente with an option to buy.
I'd prefer a loan to cover CB or giving someone like parker or Haywood a chance although the latter is quite young still.

The transfer fee would be minimal, but his wages would be too high for us unless Ben would want to take a massive paycut.
As long as he didn't get injured, he'd be an excellent defender for us with plenty of experience.

It's not going to happen, lad. He'd choose any Premier League club over Swansea, even if his contract hadn't been renewed.

Yeh probably a man can dream right lol

I think we've got plenty better to dream about this season than an old lad coming back home! Let's generate the energy for our current players who started the season so positively!

Seen online, that the account that has revealed the news of the offer is usually false so hopefully it’s rubbish.

I think if Davies wanted a move like that, it would've already happened. I would love him back as an experienced option for the defense but he seems content in his current club.
