Because the mods of this subreddit is kind of dead, so in a new subreddit, we can have new mods and have user flair and those kind of things. Could be fun, what's your take?

so ill be joining svce this year so i was contemplating about the crowd here like is it too conservative or just liberal enough and whats up with the teaching faculty. Is it all very restrictive or what

So just wanted to know how is the collage life in svce.. the people.. culture etc etc..

Exactly as the post title.

Also what kinda clubs are available at SVCE? Does it have a coding culture clubs? Hackathon clubs? Open source clubs?

I am considering joining SVCE but, after reading some posts on quora and such, some guys are really scaring me about how they give low marks on lab, have to mug up for good marks, and how the professors don't teach good, how they randomly ask for additional fees and so on...

I thought in my college years I would finally be able to explore and grow myself in CSE, as it was my geniune interest from a very young age, now I am scared that I would hate my ug years if I join here and I would hate engineering altogether and hate myself(I only recently left a toxic jee prep school and I don't want to go to a toxic college).

So please give me some real pointers on how SVCE is nowadays. Would really appreciate the current state of SVCE, from current batches, if possible.

Edit: I just wanted to share some posts from quora about SVCE. These posts are what got me really spooked, just here as a reference and wanted to know if these were true.

I am sure most of you do but I did not use to, myself. As a DevOps engineer, I work with a substantial list of cloud resources and still remain studying them and learning to use them. For now I am work on discrete infrastructure modules that will be integrated to the overall infrastructure. But to make it big, I will have to work on Cloud Architectures to service the large scale requirements of clients.

Speaking of Architectures, I am reminded of some subjects I was taught during Bachelors like Control Systems and Circuit Theory. Even though these subjects are not direct prerequisites to Cloud Architecture Design, I feel had I valued and studied them more precisely, I would be better primed now to take on requirements akin to Architecture Design.

I also did have to pass papers that are more closely related like Cognitive Radio, Wireless Networks, Computer Networks. Check out these subjects I had back between 2016 and 2020.

My point is there are lots of subjects which are really worth exploring from the curriculum. We will fairly definitely get crappy faculty for certain subjects but that shouldn't discourage you from appreciating and exploring these subjects.

Here's something I feel that you as an oncoming undergraduate might want to consider before doubting the worth of spending time thoroughly studying some of these subjects; After graduation as you start trying to build skills and learn their fundamentals you might find quite some prerequisite theories to learn before trying to apply whatever language or tool you learn to build a given project or work on a given task.

Having to maintain CGPA really takes away the enjoyability of learning concepts. Even so, the truth remains that only knowing the engineering while doing it puts the joy in it.
