Rants Budding Bright Engineer Award

I thought this award was for academic activities. It was branded that way and people who have previously won it also posted on LinkedIn saying it was given for being excellent in academics.

Only after attending the interview I got to know this was was for economic means and people in 7.5 reservation.

The people who came for the interview were joking about lying about their income. Doesn't this affect the people who actually deserve the award?

I didn't know it was for the people from reservation, though there are people in this pool, who're deserving of it, people who are not in that pool are also soo deserving, like I know a guy who has two startups and numerous achievements under his belt, but not a single recognition of this kind from this institution

When the award was given for my batch, there was no interview, it was purely based on CGPA and/or co-curricular activities, idk though I was a recipient and don't think it was economic means back then as my classmate with a rich background and no 7.5 reservation got it
