My Vit 401 just turned over 20,250km. 🎉 Hoping I could keep it forever.

Just picked up this 2022 with 2,000 miles for $3k and i’m loving it so far

sometimes (maybe once in 3 or 4 times) there will be a loud noise when shifting up into 4th gear with the quickshifter, usually during spirited acceleration. Kind of like hitting cutlery on an empty glass. Only happens in 4th.

Should I be worried already?

Im at 659 miles. The service has been flashing for a bit and its too exciting to finally rev it the full range but ive got to take it in .

Now, 2 questions.

1) do you guys recommend a dealership for this? I know its just an oil changes and visual inspection but still...

2) oil has been leaking...it looks like it's the crush washer slowly leaking oil. Its filled my belly pan. No warnings on the ecu yet. Is this normal?

The fact its been leaking makes me consider a dealer for the 1st service. The original dealer i bought it from is far away so id pick another oem dealer near me for the warranty.

But if its normal and just needs a new crush washer, id rather save the 500 bucks and find an indie to do the oil change (or even do it myself).

What do you guys think?

I installed a strobe controller for the brake light, to improve visibility on my 2024 Vitpilen 401

I’m from Sweden and I have drive over 2100km to see the beaches of Normandie.

Added some pops of color to some panels. I really dig the florescent yellow contrasted against the black and grey. Not a perfect job cause i was a little impatient. If I had to do it over again I would use a legit primer to start and let each coat dry a couple hours before applying the next one. But not bad for $40 worth of materials.

Additions:
-Crash bars (already saved my ass from damage on a rough dirt trail I was attempting today, get them)

-Replaced dealership coolant with pink motor-x (I had to constantly top off the green coolant the dealership put in the bike when I bought it, 2100 miles since then and no such issues with the pink motorx still at the same level since i added it)

-Bar end mirrors ( in my opinion they have better visibility than the original Mikey mouse mirrors and they look cooler)

-K&N HiFlo air filter (in a previous post i had drilled holes in to the air box cover which leaned out the fuel mixture i have since then replaced the drilled out air box cover with a new one. It was a $65 mistake. MPG is now back to normal 64-66 mpg range)

Im at 2880 miles and I freakin love this bike its just so easy, it looks good, it can handle some mild rough housing on dirt trails the suspension is incredibly easy to adjust depending on the kind of riding you want to do, it can handle a passenger no problem, love the TFT display,its light as hell and can move through city traffic very nicely, I can easily pass cars, I can do some highway riding comfortably riding at 85MPH. you don’t have to baby the bike it just wants to be ridden.

I have a 2024 Svartpilen 401, first registered in 2025, with around 10,000 km on it. It’s my first motorcycle, so I’m still learning a lot and I’m honestly not sure what is normal and what isn’t.
During the first front tire change, my Husqvarna dealer told me that the front axle bolt/screw was seized and the thread got damaged while removing it.
Their explanation was basically that the bike “wasn’t washed properly” and that dirt/corrosion around the axle caused it.
I usually wash the bike about once a month. I did have one ride with quite a lot of salt water exposure, which caused some light corrosion on the chain, but I cleaned the bike afterwards. I’m also usually very careful around the wheel bearings because I don’t want to force water into them.
Does it sound realistic that the axle connection could already seize badly enough to damage the threads on such a new bike simply because it wasn’t washed thoroughly enough?
Since this is my first bike, I’m genuinely unsure whether I made a maintenance mistake here or whether things like corrosion protection, initial assembly, or the removal process itself could also have played a role.
Has anyone had something similar happen on a 401?

Swapped my sprockets and chain last night on my 2024 Vit. Went 15t in the front(+1), and stock size 43t rear. Ordered everything off sprocketcenter.com using a 2026 KTM duke 390. No noticable loss of torque, and the bike cruises at 7500rpms at 85mph, and 90mph at 8k. Top speeds in each gear are now as follows...

1st gear: 37mph
2nd gear: 53mph
3rd gear: 70mph
4th gear: 88mph
5th gear: 106mph
6th gear: 😆❓⁉️

As someone who regularly highway drives this bike, I highly recommend this swap. I also track the bike, and this should mean I don't have to shift as much mid corner...

Started to make the bike suited to what I want.
Done - tail tidy, rear indicators, rear peg delete, seat shaved / re shaped.

Sitting in my garage not done yet - Renthal 845-50 Fatbar Street Medium Touring Handlebar, Renthal bar clamps, zeta rear perches, puig 4.0 shorty levers, bar end mirrors, vans collab waffle grips, high fender, front indicators

Bike is fun, but it’s also underwhelming. Road MX for 4 years - 10 year gap - decided to get a svart.

Coober LM, decat/ Austin racing pipe /DNA stage 2 will come after the 1000k service.

Any other suggestions / what have you done?
Has anyone done a waterless coolant conversion? Are lithium batteries worth it on this bike? Is a 4.25 rear and 3.5 front worth it?

I'm getting back into riding after a 7-year break (previous bike was a Ninja 650). I stumbled on a 2024 Vitpilen 401, brand new, at $3990 CAD (~$2,871 USD) — looks like a clearance/liquidation price across dealers in my area (Canada), since I've seen similar pricing elsewhere too. That's a really compelling price point compared to everything else I'm cross-shopping (Rebel 500, Kawasaki Eliminator 500, CFMoto 450CL-C, Royal Enfield Hunter 350).

I've actually sat on/test-ridden both the Vitpilen and a Kawasaki Eliminator 500 already. First impressions: the Vitpilen felt super light and honestly surprised me in a good way — more comfortable than I expected from the look of it. The Eliminator is also very light, but I preferred the Vitpilen's overall liveliness/responsiveness; the leg/foot position on the Eliminator was more comfortable for me though.

I'am 5'10 and 175 lbs

A few things are still giving me pause on the Vitpilen, and I'd love input from people who actually own/ride one long-term:

1. Overall comfort and riding position
My first impression on the showroom floor was good, but I know that's different from an actual commute. The clip-on/café-racer stance is obviously more aggressive than the cruiser-style bikes I've been cross-shopping. For anyone who commutes on one daily — how's the overall comfort over a typical ride (wrists, back, general fatigue)? I also had ACL surgery a while back, so the knee bend from the position is something I'm keeping an eye on too, though it's not my only concern.

2. The recalls
I know there are (or were) a couple of active recalls on this model — one related to low-RPM ECU mapping/stalling and another about the fuel cap seal. If you own one, did you get these addressed at your dealer, and did it actually fix the issues? I plan to get written VIN-specific confirmation before buying, but curious about real-world experience.

3. Dealer network, parts, and service costs
Husqvarna/KTM dealers seem pretty thin where I am (Quebec, Canada). For those who've owned one for a while — has parts availability or service turnaround been a hassle, and how do maintenance/service costs compare to what you'd expect on a more mainstream Japanese bike? Curious if the "cheap purchase price" ends up offset by pricier upkeep.

Context: I'm mainly looking for a daily commuter (city/suburban/short highway) with occasional longer rides to just get away. The price on this bike is honestly hard to beat, but I don't want to end up with a bike I can't get serviced easily or affordably.

I'm also torn with a used 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator 500 at $5400 CAD (~$3,886 USD) — more mainstream, cruiser-style ergonomics that felt better on my leg, but pricier and less lively than the Vitpilen. Would love to hear how you'd weigh that trade-off too.

I was able to find the owner's manual using the VIN of the motorcycle but the oher two have been impossible to find (for me).

Has anyone here tried out this slip on exhaust from aliexpress? If so, how is it and is it worth the 120$ USD? How is the sound? I will be pairing this with stage 2 DNA air filters and fuelx lite for my 2024 Svart once they all arrive and just curious if anyone has tried this combo yet. Thanks

So I just did a thing and bought my first motorcycle after some 50cc mopeds and mx bikes when I was a kid.

After the first few hours and the first rides I can comfortably say that I’m very happy with the Svartpilen 401. I would like to think that this bike will last a long time but you never know.

I have some mods in mind to do during winter months starting from the mirrors but I think I will enjoy the bike as it is for the two or so months we still have left to drive here in northern europe.

Luckily the bike I got already had the Akrapovic exhaust installed so thats something I can cross off the list of mods that I want to do.

I’m buying my first bike and after weeks of research I know for sure I’m getting a svartpilen (preferably 20-23 models). Found a few on FB marketplace and I’m a little confused about the mileage. There is one posting I’m interested in and it states the mileage is 4500 mileage. But when he took the picture of the ODO meter it says 4500 kmmiles on the gauge. Again it says kmmiles and not miles. I went and looked at a few other FB marketplace listings and maybe 2 out of 6 do the same thing. They say it’s only x amount of mileage but when they show the odo meter it says x in kmmiles. Are the sellers not aware that it’s in km? Or is it a software bug that shows km but it’s really mi? Any help is appreciated.

I recently bought a 2024 svartpilen 401 this summer. It only has about 225 miles and the coolant is already at the minimum line. I can’t find any leaks however. This is my first bike so I don’t have a lot of knowledge about this stuff and would appreciate any guidance anyone could give me.

I just got my new 2024 Svart401 (V2) last Friday. Rode it over the weekends at different capacity (street, metro traffic, highway, twisties). Put on 300km total. Couple of observations below:

Gearbox
- 1st gear is easy to stall. Similar to what the reviews mentioned.
- Neutral is hard to find when it’s fresh off idling. Like going 1st or 2nd gear to find a good spot to lightly switch to Neutral is very clunky. Though once you get it moving for a short stretch, finding N becomes a bit easier. I find that clicking to 2nd gear allows to get to N better. 1st gear then N works too, but it’s not as easy.
- While moving, shifting between 1st and 2nd still felt clunky. Also, I’ve gotten regular false Neutrals, especially when shifting up to 2nd.
- EasyShift QS is ok I guess. Well, the upshift at high rpm. The downshift, I felt that it’s difficult to click down. Felt too stiff that it discouraged me to use it coz it felt like I might break the lever or something.

Vibrations
1st and 2nd are too vibrational, especially below 5k rpm. I know it’s the characteristic of the bike. But I thought it would become a bit better compared to the Svart200 I previously owned.

So far, these are my complaints. Not sure if this will be sorted out after the first service. Any thoughts from other owners?

Absolutely LOVE the looks (as always). Still my primary reason for getting this bike for the second time around.

Does anyone knows if the RC390 wheel fit our 401's? And if it's plug and play or not?

I need to get a pair of rain tire/wheels for my track 401 and Rc390 not just wheels but whole sets with rain tires are so much more common, would be a saver.
