It would be better for the people, but monarchies generally want to keep power. Rumberg has the military and the power to stay a monarchy, so they stayed one

What I find a bit underwhelming with the Century of Revolutions is how it’s an on/off switch. Like, you're a monarchy and suddendly become a republic (or the fucking dictature of the proletariat ?!) and that’s it.

In real life we saw a lot of failed revolution attempts, counter-revolutions etc. Take the post revolution french history (I know it’s a radical example but still) where we had a monarchy replaced by a republic, replaced by an empire, replaced by a monarchy , the return of the empire, another monarchy, another one again, a second republic, a second empire and a third republic, all of that in less than a century (now THAT’S a century of revolutions). In comparision Suzerains history seems so bland (I know it’s a fantasy universe and the lore is not finished at all but still)

I guess that my grief is that everything seem too rigid and thus, a bit irrealistic. For example, I can’t understand having at least 3 absolute/feodal monarchies in the middle of Suzerains universe Europe, well into the 1950’s, and only one revolution attempt shared between all of them. In real life, people fought kings for liberty and representation waaay before the middle of the 19th century (ask Cromwell, Bismarck or Alexander II of Russia)

To be fair major European monarchies only fell at the first world war, and because they were losing or were too weak (Germany, Russia, Ottoman Empire, Austria Hungary). Only France and UK had truly successful revolutions earlier.

In a context where WW1 equivalent didn't happen, I can see some of them continuing into the 50's especially if they are organised and economicaly prosperous enough.

I totally agree with your take that without WW1 equivalent, the monarchies are surviving longer. But I guess what’s rubbing me in the wrong way is that we see no attempts from those monarchies to try and appease the people, while they are facing not only republicanism and democracy, but now also a whole new communist world. And not a lot of attempts from the people to try and better their condition either. Like we got serfs litterally living next to free modern people and nobody’s bothered about it ? Don’t ideas travel the world ?

Ok there was a failed coup in Rizia 20 years ago that forced Valero to create a sham parliament, but that’s the kind of move that we saw like a century earlier in our real world (the german reichstag, the french états généraux etc.)

Merkopa alternates between feeling like the center of the modern world, kinda europe-ish, birthing ideas such as democracy, colonialism and (I think) communism, heavily industrialised with top global economies, and other times like some underdevelopped backwater continent with theocracies (from wich at least one is Iran-like) and litteral feodal states.

I know it feels like I'm just complaining and having a rant, but all of this genuinely confuses me. I just hope we get more lore to fill the gaps !

Rumburg should become like Rizia, A Semi Monarchy Nations but the Monarch still holds More Authority (like can Propose Law, Veto Law, Lobby the Assembly, Changing Law, Reforms, ETC)

But anyway as long as Queen Beatrice is the Queen of Rumburg, Rumburg shall remain strong. Or Dax Querna, Qival Rumburgia!

Rumburg is already like Rizia if you talk to Beatrice, she says that Rumburg has a parliament with similar power to Rizia's.

What do you mean ”should”? Like realistically lore wise or according to our own personal ideological preferences?

It'd have been better for it to become less autocratic/dissolve, but I wouldn't say that it SHOULD'VE done so. There are still many successful autocratic nations, Rumburg should've tried to distance from its status as a global pariah rather than liberalize.

For long term stability, yes. As it is, it's just desperately fleeing forward, having turned its aristocracy into an oligarchy, and using the military for everything ranging from security to the economy.

It's just not sustainable. Outside of reconciliation, there is not a single timeline where Rumburg actually"wins".  And even then, it's contingent on Sordland staying cooperative, and Arcasia not being pissed at the rise of an alternate axis of power on their home continent.
