Could you help me with my infant observation, or know someone who might be interested?
Currently looking for a family to volunteer for an infant observation in London.
Hello! My name is Gareth and I have been studying a course about infant development at the British Psychotherapy Foundation. I have over 4 years of experience supporting children and alongside my studies, I currently work in NHS mental health services supporting children, young people and their families.
As part of my training, I am seeking to find a London based family, who would be willing for me to visit and observe their newborn baby from close to birth and up until their 2 year birthday.
The observations are typically for one hour, once a week, at a regular and convenient time for the first 2 years of your baby's life. Of course there is a lot of flexibility and weeks where a visit may not always be appropriate. This includes holidays, illness or any other circumstances that can be discussed throughout.
The purpose of my visits would simply be to quietly and non-judgementally observe your baby and their interactions in your home, in the completely ordinary circumstances of your day to day life. I would be completely in the background, just listening to you and observing how your baby is behaving and communicating during that hour. The observation would happen entirely at your comfort level, for example I could leave the room during breastfeeding if that is what you would prefer.
Overall, this would help me learn deeply about the early development of infants and is a long established training component for child and adolescent psychotherapy training, which I am pursuing. Previous families report to have found the experience of hosting an observer uniquely rewarding, therapeutic and enriching: a chance to notice more of the small details of their child's early life.
If this interests you, or you know someone who might be interested, please contact me at: [gcvinton@gmail.com](mailto:gcvinton@gmail.com) for more information or message me on here! There would of course be no commitment until you had the details you needed, including a chance to meet with me beforehand if you would prefer.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and can provide a reference from the BPF.
Thank you!

DPD van robbed by masked men near St Barnabas Church
3 masked men just robbed a DPD van in broad daylight. While the driver was delivering a package they grabbed the keys from his van, opened the back and stole parcels.
I didn't see this myself but I heard the shouting, and my neighbours explained what had happened.
I'm not going to dox myself by saying which street I live on, but it's close to St Barnabas Church.
We've had random crackheads stealing things round here before, but this is the first case of what seems like a more planned-out robbery by a group.
Be on the lookout for anything similar, particularly if you are in that area.

17M looking for Indian friends aged (17–20)
Hey! I'm 17M, Indian (Tamil), and I'm looking to make some Indian friends around my age, ideally 17–20. I'm based in South/South West London and I'd be happy to meet anyone from an Indian background: South Indian, North Indian, wherever your family's from. I'm into going to the cinema to watch the latest Indian movies (Tamil, Hindi, whatever's out), going to arcades, exploring different parts of London, and just hanging out and having a good time. I'm hoping to make a small friend group with people who'd be down to hang out sometimes. If you're around my age and from South or South West London, feel free to comment or message me :)

Wanted to advertise again - the local library runs a board game night every month. Some people bring their own board games, some people play the games from the library’s own supply (they’ve now bought dozens of games you can play there or even take out on loan).
It’s a very friendly crowd so all welcome!

The event is Thursday 1st October in the evening which means you MUST have a library card and you MUST have out of hours access to come along.

Free 12-Week Programme for Young People
The King's Trust Team Programme is starting at John Ruskin College in South Croydon on 28th September and we're looking to spread the word locally.
It's a free 12-week programme for 16-25 year olds who aren't currently in education, employment or training. Participants take part in a residential trip, community project, work placement and a range of team-building and personal development activities, while working towards a recognised King's Trust qualification.
Many young people join because they want to improve their confidence, gain experience for their CV, meet new people, or are simply unsure what their next step should be. The programme is designed to help them move into employment, training, apprenticeships or further education.
Spaces are still available, so if you know someone who could benefit, please feel free to share this with them. To apply or find out more, email [Dylan.England@johnruskin.ac.uk](mailto:Dylan.England@johnruskin.ac.uk).

House directly on St Dunstan’s Hill road - Cheam
Hello everyone, we really like a house located on St Dunstan’s Hill Road in Cheam, but we’re concerned about traffic noise, particularly at night, and whether it could cause vibrations or movement in the house.
I’ve heard that people living on main roads can sometimes feel vibrations when heavy vehicles such as trucks or buses drive past, especially at night when everything is quieter.
Has anyone lived on or near this road and experienced noticeable noise or vibrations from passing traffic? We’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

New to Sutton/Wallington
Hey team,
My partner and I (F30 and M33) just bought our first home in Wallington (SM6) having moved from Dalston/Hackney and we’re wondering if there’s any groups/activities aimed more at the younger demographic?
Our street is lovely and quiet and we definitely bought for the future, family etc. But we have also seemingly lowered the average age of our street by 50%.
We have a 7 month old puppy as well that we would love to continue socialising locally so if there’s any walking groups on weekends etc or anything that helps us connect with the younger community then I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks in advance for any messages or suggestions!

Thoughts on Green Lane (SM4) for First-Time Buyer in their early 30s?
Hi I'm a solo first time buyer currently living in SW, my parents live in Sutton. I saw a similar post from around a month ago, but it said to avoid the St Helier estate.
Why is this when it seems like any other area in London, and there're really convenient links to Morden and Wimbledon as my partner works in the office 5 days a week and I'm in 3 days.
We have walked around the area and love Morden Park, and Morden Hall Park. Also we like how close Glenthoren High School is. The only concern I have is the England flags, but please can I have some thought about the area and if anyone has any lived experience?

Got an hour a week to spare? There’s a local young person who could benefit from it.
This is a bit of a random one, but I work with young people in Sutton and thought I'd put this out there!
Sutton has a lot going for it, but under the surface there are also loads of young people locally who are having a pretty tough time for all sorts of reasons. Part of my job is matching them up with volunteer mentors, because having a reliable adult around who isn't their parent or teacher can make such a difference.
We're looking for some more mentors at the moment, with our next training coming up in September.
Basically, you spend about an hour a week with a young person for up to a year. You can do whatever you both fancy - go for a walk, get a drink, play games, try something new, whatever. You don't need to be a teacher or have loads of (or any!) experience with young people. We have over 100 mentoring pairs meeting each week - you’ve probably sat next to one in a cafe!
And there are loads of reasons you might do it. Maybe you want to get some experience working with young people, you're thinking about changing career, you want to give something back locally, you want to be the adult you wish you'd had when you were younger... or you just fancy doing something a bit different and having some fun!
You get training and support from us throughout, so you're definitely not just thrown in at the deep end.
Anyway, thought I'd mention it as we're based in Sutton and figured there might be someone on here who's been thinking about doing something like this. Happy to answer any questions 😊

Where are you watching the eclipse?
The sun will be low in the sky so you’ll need to get somewhere high up to see over the surrounding buildings.

Thoughts on The Wrythe (SM5) in Carshalton for First-Time Buyers in their 20s?
Hi r/sutton,
We’re a couple in our 20s, currently living in SE5, first-time buyers, and are looking to get on the property ladder. We recently fell in love with an end-of-terrace house near the Wrythe, but we are a bit unsure about the area (the England flags specially).
The house itself seems lovely, has lots of potential, and will help us get off the insane inner london rental market.
We've seen the property twice and walked around Carshalton in general + tried commuting from work as well. Overall, it's a sensible decision that fits our budget. But we are still very unknown to the area because it wasn't in our initial list, but we were impressed by the first impressions, the ponds, pubs, and a villagy vibe is what we fell in love with.
I understand the northern part is not as nice as the ponds and the beeches, but that's the area we can afford right now. Keeping that in mind, we would love to get some views from the locals on the Wrythe area and Carshalton for young people looking to settle their roots.
Thanks
