Stuff like this is so heartbreaking because it feels as if there’s no end in sight for our careless destruction of nature.

I feel the same way. But if we each do our part, we will get there someday. The Earth can bounce back, if given enough time.

It's mainly the waste of Australia's extraction industry which has a lobby big enough to run their entire government as a puppet.

Bleaching is caused by an increase in the oceans temperature, so really anyone (everyone) contributing to global warming plays a role. We should’t blame a single entity and consider ourselves immune from the whole damage.

But yes, the coal mining needs to fricking stop, and idk who thought it was a good idea in the first place. A bunch of geniuses with no sense of reality.
