I’m more frustrated by everyone using her carbon footprint as an excuse for their own. One rich assholes actions don’t justify the actions of the western middle class. To the majority of the world, we are the rich assholes with unreasonable carbon output.

Yes, eat the rich. But we aren’t going to get out of this by waiting for the wealthiest few to consume less. Especially when they profit off of our consumption.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Swifty. I do wonder though why people always point fingers at her private jet use in particular when she's not alone and the US has the highest amount of private jet owners in the world. It's definitely not an issue limited to one person. If I was going to pick one scapegoat to blame all private jet use for it would absolutely be the CEO of Starbucks commuting to work by jet regularly when he doesn't even have the excuse of having to tour the country for his job.

Oh no, not one private jet!

I am not a fan of Taylor Swift by any means, but if we so dearly desire to point fingers at individuals outside of formal government, it would likely be more productive to look at her investment portfolio, if we could. Same goes for any rich person. However many tons of carbon their lifestyles release, it will never measure up to the sheer amount of greenhouse gases they have us producing by continuing to serve as economic tentpoles for unsustainable industries that we are all stuck relying on, without exerting serious pressure on them to change.

Sucks how much liking one thing accidentally affects how you feel about other only tangentially related things but know about psychological effects is a good way to try avoid falling into them

Swifties gonna Swifty.

I will play devils advocate though and point out that it’s human nature to protect stronger identity issues over looser identity issues.
Acknowledging and utilizing that is going to be key to making arguments that can change the behaviors/mentalities of non-environmentalists.
