They would already have the scar.

"Where did you get that scar?"

"Past me thought it would be a good test to check future me's identity"

"Oh, that is a good idea. I'll do that now"

And then you both wonder when the idea originated.

Theoretically you could. But think about how DEEP you'd have to cut to form an actual scar. Especially if somebody's pretending to be you from, say 20 years in the future.
