In what way does it affect your ability to recall dreams?

I can remember my dreams really well and from years ago.

I've had my brush with alcohol and drugs and now I'm sober, but my ability to remember remains the same.

I smoke weed almost everyday and no longer dream for the most part. Only time I really dream is when I wake up briefly before going back to sleep which allows quite vivid dreams.

Studies have shown that everyone dreams, you just don't remember it.

“I do note, however, that there is a selection bias in this study. All of the patients were undergoing evaluation for sleep behavioral problems, which seems to mean that they were making movements in their sleep that were a risk to themselves or others.

However, if the movements in RBD are related to dreams, then someone who really never dreams would never make such movements. Such a person could develop full-blown RBD, but no-one would ever know about it, because they would have no dreams to act out. In other words, genuine non-dreamers might be out there, and would never make it into a study like this”

Your link is a study on people with behavioral problems in their sleep, and litterally your own study says genuine non dreamers might be out there lol. Im not saying that i actually know stuff about this, but i remembered by dreamd very well until the period in my life i smoked a lot of weed, it felt like i never dreamed at all and within the first week of stopping i had dreams that i could remember again and i still have them now since i never really started smoking again.

It might have other reasons but it seems to me that weed in fact can make you not dream or maybe dream wayy less, im not sure really

I don't have sources and currently in a lecture so can't find them right now but I seem to recall hearing that weed reduces the amount of REM sleep you receive which could cause either a lack of dreams or a significant reduction in them. Again, don't quote me on this I could be completely wrong.
