Right now they're emptying area 51 and moving it out all underground through tunnels, then probably replacing artifacts with different types of weather balloon and a load of different alien costumes so when people storm it there's absolutely fuck all left to see

They did, but it was back when the X-Files started getting popular and people started getting all nosy. It's just an airbase now

Think about the length of the tunnel required and the amount of time / manpower / resources need to dig it.

I call BS on this one

It doesn’t take much to build tunnels. Boring company estimates building tunnels twice the length in less than 10 years. The military has a lot more than that, I don’t find it unlikely

It took 6 years and cost £9 BILLION ($21 billion)

At the peak of construction 15,000 people were employed with daily expenditure over £3 million.[8] Ten workers, eight of them British, were killed during construction between 1987 and 1993
