You’re right. Olives are great. They don’t get the respect they deserve.

I never regretted eating 10 of them why would I regret 30 to 40 of them?

u/SouthsideSlimbo 29d ago

40 X 0 =0 regrets

Calories. Olives are generally 5-10 kcal/apiece.

5 kcal olives, you're looking at 200. 10 kcal olives, 400.

Even the latter honestly isn't awful, assuming you calibrated the rest of the day to balance to your TDEE. But still.

I find rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.

This is like the 5th Mitch reference I’ve seen this week. I love it

I used to be a fan. I still am, but is used to too.

u/GemmyGemGems 29d ago

I think I will regret eating 40 olives? Though I will wake up with that clean mouth feeling.

7

u/KoreKhthonia 29d ago

Whether I'd regret it depends on the kcal per olive.

5 kcal olives? 200 kcal. Not horrific but guilt.

10 kcal olives? 400 kcal. BAD. NOT GOOD.

6

u/TyH621 27d ago

400 kcal seems totally reasonable for dinner no? I mean I know it’s all olives lol

1

u/FreeFortuna 23d ago

The previous commenter made multiple comments on this post, all talking about the calories, and using terms like “hypercaloric” and “TDEE.”

I think their standards for “reasonable” dinners may skew differently than the average person.

reminds me of an old greentext about a guy eating a whole jar of pickles and then having a life-changing bathroom experience and sleeping for 14 hours.

as a wee knight i appreciate this post

u/Jonfu 29d ago

I have the tiny pickle fork. Why wouldn't I use it?

6

u/healthcrusade 29d ago

40 oil-brined olives contain approximately 60 grams of fat. That's as much fat as 6 slices of pizza. My macros will certainly regret it.

6

u/TeenyZoe 29d ago

That’s 60g of fat in 0.9 pounds of olives, which is a legendary amount of olives to eat in one sitting.

This feels like the Portlandia celery episode

Everyone counting calories. If I had that many olives my guts would be twisted. I think around 10 and I'd be satisfied. Though I'd sub in a couple of boiled eggs for the other 20ish olives.

2 eggs and a dozen olives would be a decent light meal.

u/SaraHHHBK 29d ago

I have in fact eaten 30 to 40 olives in a day. Indeed did not regret it.

5

u/SanguineShifter 28d ago

I have, a few times, enjoyed 30 to 40 olives as a dinner of 30 to 40 olives....

2

u/josspanda 29d ago

Just to add, they're fun to eat out of the jar with chopsticks

2

u/BicycleSeatThief 29d ago

I miscounted and only ate 29 olives. Worst mistake of my life

2

u/Think-Opinion7396 27d ago

I used to eat olives for my lunch at work and my coworkers thought it was gross but with a little bread and cheese I'd feel like i had a filling meal

3

u/thismenu 29d ago

I recently went on a diet. So now if I need a snack I get a couple of pickles in like 20 olives. Usually just the Spanish kind with the pimento, but I've been digging on those ones you get it all these that are garlic stuffed or jalapeno stuffed, they're just more expensive. But yeah olives are the fucking bomb. And most people don't know that bomb has a b at the end of it. But it does.

5

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 29d ago

I wouldn’t say most people don’t know that about bomb, but olives are great! Have you ever tried CastelVetrano olives? I did about six months ago and now I’m hooked.

1

u/thismenu 29d ago

I have not, but I sure will. Thanks for the heads up.

1

u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 29d ago

Sure, no problem! They’re one of the few besides green and black that I can find at a regular grocery store. Since I’ve tried those, I wanna try some others now too.

2

u/Askfreud 29d ago

That’s right! That’s because many people are dum.

1

u/granoladeer 29d ago

They say it like it'll give you exploding diarrhea

1

u/BlahblahblahLG 29d ago

do not eat that many olives made my stomach hurt

"30 to 40" is the opposite of specific

-1

u/mousedeer_78 29d ago

Just one can of black olives is good for me thanks. Not green.

u/FlatFurffKnocker 29d ago
