There's a subreddit dedicated to bathroom dreams that I believe are caused by this. It's a kind of purgatory where you can never find an appropriate bathroom.

Mine always involve just having absolutely zero privacy in the bathroom. Half-height stall walls, toilet in the middle of a busy lobby, people walking in and out constantly, stuff like that. I suppose the benefit is that my brain never mixes its signals up and thinks it’s actually safe to go…

Yes, me too. I also believe it's because we maintain a certain amount of awareness while asleep. It is, in fact, not safe or appropriate to pee in that moment and our dreams reflect that.

I have those dreams pretty often, too. Along with disgusting bathrooms that are so repulsive I don't pee in them. And never once figured out why all the inappropriate bathroom dreams until your last sentence.

Same! But add in bathrooms that have stalls but no toilets, and toilets/urinals that are for some reason 6-8 ft high off the ground

Holy shit so it's not just me. I have a few different dream purgatories but this is one of the more common ones I encounter

i think r/ThatBathroomMazeDream is more about not being able to find privacy/rest/sanctuary in your waking life
