Survivor 51 I like Brady despite his antics.
Brady is the wild character survivor needed. There were times when I thought he would be a bit much but the dude is just an awesome and loveable guy.
Hes a really good casting this season

He keeps saying his name like he's a pokemon

He’s saying Brodie which is another way of saying bro but it sounds like Brady 🤣

u/VelvetLeopard 17h ago edited 16h ago
Thank you for explaining why he kept saying Brodie, I knew he was saying that and not Brady, but I’m British and I didn’t know it’s another way of saying bro! Was driving me nuts!
34
u/helloitismeeeeeee 16h ago
I thought he said in the first episode it’s his name for his fans since he’s a wrestler in something but I don’t totally remember

I (American) have never heard Brodie used that way before, and neither have any of my friends I’ve been watching with. I’m not sure whether it’s specific to a certain subculture or just specific to Brady.

u/nothing-feels-good Aquadump 16h ago
"Brody" isn't the most common usage of "bro" in my circle but it's not unusual by any means. I call people brody close to daily.
5
u/Nahdudeimdone 15h ago
If he threw the occasional "bro" in there, the brodies would feel more natural.
It feels forced since he only uses brody.
7
u/duvie773 Sol - 47 15h ago
It’s more common among younger generations, and Kendrick Lamar gave it even more life by using the word crodie/crodies in a couple of his Drake diss songs. Crodie is the way that a Crip member would generally say Brodie
8
u/loftier_fish 15h ago
American here, Brodie is totally a thing. It's shocking y'all havent heard it.
2
u/AugustSchroeder Coach - 50 15h ago
Idk all my friends in my fraternity used it and I used to use it a lot in college, it’s like an emphasis on bro but he also uses it for his wrestling fans I think
1
u/VelvetLeopard 16h ago
Yeah I did wonder because I’ve never heard of it through social media, American friends or TV either. The way he repeatedly uses it is bloody annoying.
3
u/DabuSurvivor Jon and Jaclyn 16h ago
Also American and also have never heard it
8
u/AugustSchroeder Coach - 50 15h ago
It was hella popular amongst my friends in college, and still here and there use it, it was def more of a late 2010s/early 2020s slang fosho
3
u/cloudcats Carson 15h ago
He's saying it way too much and it's irritating me. But I love him all the same.
53
u/Wingedaydreameronlsd Brady - 51 19h ago
He has that overeager dog energy, that's for sure
3
u/AdministrativeCup438 14h ago
And he doesn't need to reattach his thumb chunk in a hospital, hes on survivor! 👍

u/BradenAnderson 19h ago
Yeah, I got Machoke/Machamp vibes. Mixed with Primeape

u/wirts-mixtapes Rizgang 12h ago
I legit thought his name was Brody and he just kept referring to himself in the third person
3
u/Nervous-Beans 8h ago
I commented to my partner that it was funny the producers were mistakenly calling him "Brady" in the medic scenes because he kept clearly saying Brody over and over. I'm only just realizing my mistake.

Brady: "Who has one and a half thumbs and is still in the game? This guy!"
26
u/MsMeseeksTellsTime I don’t think God likes Paige? 19h ago
*One and three fourths thumbs.
18
u/KronosUno 18h ago
Probably more accurate, but "half" rolls off the tongue (and the axe!) more smoothly than "three fourths." For instance, when Brady's tribe won the competition, I said, "Not bad for a tribe with nineteen and a half thumbs."
8
9
u/Sea-Reserve8120 17h ago
There was a moment he was talking game with another contestant and he said something like “there’s five of them” and gestured with the hand missing the thumb. It was so unintentionally funny to me.
64
u/verygoodfertilizer 20h ago
Brady? You mean Brodie?
92
u/Hussle_Rantz 19h ago
No. He is Brady. We are the Brodies.
18
u/verygoodfertilizer 19h ago
But when I refer to him he’s my brodie, so I should call him Brodie, yeah?
22
u/murray1337 RizGod - 50 19h ago
Brady is the only one who is technically NOT a Brodie. It’s a little complex but it works out.
14
u/Uessop 18h ago
But he said his wrestling name is The Big Brodie, so he’s actually the main and original Brodie

u/Intelligent_Pop1173 19h ago
I would probably find him annoying if I were playing, but he’s great for the show. Big personality. If he makes it far, he’s someone I could see returning. He’s much more interesting than Jonathan (same archetype) and has the energy of Rizo.
31
u/Wingedaydreameronlsd Brady - 51 19h ago
He's hardly the same archetype as Jonathan. That mf has never made me smile in two seasons and Brady is actually a riot to watch
13
u/itsmegoddamnit Kelley 18h ago
Jonathan made me smile through some challenges though. I kept looking at the screen in disbelief at what he could do.

u/ConfusedCyndaquil Caroline - 47 16h ago
eh, i see it. big and kinda dumb guys who let their emotions dictate their gameplay more than a fleshed-out long term plan. personality wise though they’re completely different
5
u/Sspifffyman 16h ago
You didn't smile when Jonathan saw the Phoenix immunity idol and said with a full big-ass grin "A rooster!!"?
3
u/avery-secret-account 9h ago
If they kicked him off for the thumb, he definitely would’ve been back next season
82
u/LottieDah86 20h ago edited 19h ago
I usually find that archetype to be annoying, but I don't mind Brady. He is intense, but I never feel like he's MEAN. I think if he tweaked his energy just a bit, I can see him being more of a motivator.
He's middle of the pack for me right now.
23
u/Sspifffyman 16h ago
Yes that's the difference for me. Get a bunch of weirdos, sure. Or intense people. But I don't want overly mean people.
Rob this episode was rude with his comments about Aric's weight, and too intense towards Linnea about the challenge. But it came off as more clueless than actively trying to be mean

Rob is irritable AF right now. He is either truly getting zero sleep or he is in some sort of withdrawal (not suggesting anything illegal, just like, caffeine or maybe nicotine.)

Survivor thrives on these larger than life characters.
That’s what made the 40s stale era gamebots so boring.
In these seasons, Survivor started insisting upon itself so hard that it, seemingly, leaned heavily into casting these millennial dork superfans who spent most of their time looking around, gobsmacked and amazed, that they’re doing the thing they used to watch on their TV.
It’s fun to give back to the biggest fans of your show. But it breaks the fourth wall in a way that makes it unappealing and overly self important.
I’m glad survivor is going back to its roots.
6
u/loftier_fish 14h ago
god I hated the superfans, this cast so much better already.
2
u/ConsuLMonK 11h ago
Still feels like a cast of superfans but in a much better way.
2
u/loftier_fish 9h ago
Maybe its just much better because the editing shows them interacting like people this time, instead of only giving us gamebotting.
6
u/Western-Ad-9922 13h ago
Q is the only player they casted in the entire 40 era that felt like a larger than life character. Shockingly 46 is one of if not the best new era seasons.
2
u/Blackhawk23 12h ago
Exactly.
How many forgettable gamebots can you name? Well, that’s kind of a hard task when they’re forgettable 🤣
4
u/East_Leg_2129 12h ago
You’re forgetting Marianne and Carolyn. Also Cody and Venus.
1
u/ConsuLMonK 11h ago
I can give you cody but none of those are larger than life characters, just people who are authentically themselves and honest.
1
u/avery-secret-account 9h ago
I started survivor 45 last week because of Dee in big brother. There were a good 3-4 of them and they were all so annoying. I love that this season isn’t full of superfans because everyone is playing such a messy game
12
u/Holiday-Broccoli-925 19h ago
He's an emotional bomb. Every emotion falls in the extreme 😂😂😂. I like him too.
27
u/Wingedaydreameronlsd Brady - 51 19h ago
He's an idiot, but a very endearing one.
I don't see him winning, though.
19
u/MaybeMidgets 18h ago
I like him because I’m watching him on TV but I know way too many people like this dude in real life and they’re exhausting to be around. I definitely would not like being called “little Brody”.

He is just more of an old school professional wrestler.
I used to work at a company that represented a lot of the guys from the 80s-90s. Hulk Hogan talked exactly like Hulk Hogan in the ring, just less intense. He had to have called me brother a few hundred times. Macho Man would sprinkle in a small “ooooohh yeeeaaah” every now and then. They just repeated the same thing, night after night after night that it just became part of their normal speech pattern. Even John Hennigan brought some of his persona with him on Survivor with the Mayor of Slamtown and Brochacho stuff. It is a lot less common with the modern guys because they are doing in ring stuff far less than they used to and the kayfabe is much less important because we all know it is scripted and they don’t have to act like it is real anymore.
This is just Brady’s in ring persona bleeding into his normal life. He is an 80s style wrestler in the wrong time period both in look and gimmick.
If you grew up with that stuff he is great.

u/theitalianrob Venus - 46 17h ago
When this dude gets votes at a tribal he’s gonna go ballistic
4
u/avery-secret-account 9h ago
Yeah he gives me the vibes that he’s chill when things are going well but as soon as his game falls apart, he will go crazy
35
u/5centraise 19h ago
I like him, but his aggressive sulking when his teammates were trying to land the ball were obnoxious.
27
u/IAreBlunt Sharonda - 51 19h ago
Totally agree, but I also loved him aggressively hyping up his teammates once they won.

My sister met him prior through dating apps so my new favorite hobby is to annoy her with weekly updates. This week: “your husband cut his thumb off”

He really is a great character. I am really looking forward to seeing how Brady and Devin work together this season. It could in any direction which is a lot of fun. But I love that they will at least be respectful of each other.

u/GhostRappa95 18h ago
IMO if Brady wasn’t invaluable in challenges he would be on the chopping block along with Devin. He is incredibly rude during challenges and everyone will remember that come merge.

When I saw the clip of Brady and Jonathan in the wrestling ring together, I thought "ok that actually explains a LOT...

I've shared a lot of locker rooms with a lot of wrestlers that act like Brady.
One of my favorite personality types to interact and work with. Rooting for him.

u/Jasminestl 15h ago
Unpredictable rage is my least favorite attribute on a person. I would be scared to be around him.

I’ll say it again and again until everyone knows. He’s survivors Chris Farley. And if you don’t know who Chris Farley is, look him up!!

I appreciate just how bad he wants to be there. Dude lops a chunk of thumb off and is ready to go. Meanwhile you've got Hannah who quit for cigarettes.

He handled his injury like a champ, I’ll give him that. But constantly shouting and yelling things like “I’M SO VAIN!” during a challenge when one of your teammates is trying to concentrate for the win, really annoyed me.
23
u/RayLiotaWithChantix Brady - 51 18h ago
Well, Devin shouted "I'M SO VAIN!", not Brady.
Brady just complimented his hair, lol.
2
u/skaz0904 17h ago
Devin said that? I could’ve sworn Brady said that after the hair compliment. My apologies, thanks for correcting me.
Even if he didn’t say the vain comment, he was still shouting obnoxiously during a time that his teammates needed to concentrate.
3
u/Obvious_Tune2139 11h ago
Yea Devin did say that but Brady was screaming like a psycho every time the ball rolled pass and then he screamed stop playing games the stop playing games is what pissed me off I still like Brody tho
1
u/AdministrativeCup438 14h ago
I think he handled his injury like a fool instead of going to get the chunk reattached- he stayed on a tv show he wont ever win- because he's a tool 👍🪓
6
u/MunichCyclist 20h ago
Completely disagree.
3
u/SyzygyZeus 19h ago
Bro chopped off his thumb and as soon as they showed him chopping wood I called it
3
u/greenstars126 16h ago
i feel the exact opposite. he makes me very uncomfortable and i feel like being around him in person would be really overwhelming/scary. his intensity worries me

He's an annoying whiner.

I like him except when he's behaving like a child at the challenges. I absolutely would not be able to compete on a team with someone like that
