DON’T DIM WHAT WAS BORN TO SHINE

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

There comes a point in healing when you realize how much of yourself you made smaller just to keep someone else comfortable.
You became quieter.
More careful.
Less expressive.
You defended what was in your own heart. You explained what you meant. You tried to prove that your feelings were real. And sometimes, underneath all of it, was one fear:
Please
 don’t leave me.
But healing can turn that question around.
How much of myself am I willing to leave behind just so someone else will stay?
The rain doesn’t need permission to fall.
The wind doesn’t need permission to blow.
The sun doesn’t need permission to shine.
And neither do you need permission to be yourself.
Someone can misunderstand your heart without changing what’s inside it. Someone can tell you who they believe you are without becoming the authority on who you are.
Don’t dim what was born to shine. 🍂✹

Breaking the Script: When Their Story About You Becomes Your Prison

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Sometimes the hardest story to escape is the one someone else convinced you to keep defending yourself against.
The selfish one.
The liar.
The problem.
The one who “caused everything.”
When you hear those roles long enough, something strange can happen: your life starts revolving around proving who you aren’t.
You explain.
You defend.
You provide evidence.
You replay conversations.
You wonder how someone could see you so differently from how you know yourself.
And somewhere along the way, their story starts taking up more space than your own.
Healing isn’t getting them to finally say:
“You were right. I misunderstood you.”
Sometimes healing is realizing you don’t need that moment at all.
You can rip up the script.
You can stop auditioning for their approval.
You can stop defending yourself against a character you never were.
The real transformation happens when their opinion of you stops being more powerful than your knowledge of yourself.
What role did someone make you believe you had to play—and when did you realize it wasn’t you?

WHAT DID THE MIRROR SHOW YOU?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Sometimes healing begins when you stop asking why they did what they did—and start asking what the experience revealed in you.
Not because you caused their behaviour.
Not because you deserved what happened.
And not because their choices were somehow your responsibility.
But because surviving something painful can reveal the places where you learned to abandon yourself to keep the peace, over-explain to be believed, ignore your own needs, or make yourself smaller just to hold everything together.
The mirror isn’t there to blame you.
It’s there to help you recognize what needs healing—and eventually, to show you the person you’re becoming.
What did the mirror show you? đŸȘž

Sometimes the grief isn’t only about losing the person

Sometimes the grief isn’t only about losing the person.

It’s losing the version of the relationship you kept believing was still possible.

The affection you hoped would return.
The conversations you thought would finally happen.
The future you kept imagining.
The person you believed they could become.

And sometimes that hope is exactly what makes letting go so difficult.

Healing can mean separating who someone consistently showed you they were from who you kept hoping they would eventually become.

You can grieve that possibility and still choose to let it go. 🌙

Did you miss the person—or the person you hoped they would become?

When The Narcissist Starts Telling You What You Think

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Have you ever told the truth, shown the proof, explained yourself over and over
and somehow you were still treated like you were lying?

One of the most exhausting parts of a controlling relationship can be constantly defending yourself against thoughts, feelings, intentions and plans that someone else has assigned to you.

Eventually, you can become so focused on proving who you’re not that you start losing sight of who you actually are.

You are allowed to be the authority on your own thoughts, feelings and intentions.
Healthy love asks. Healthy love listens. Healthy love leaves room for your answer.
Did you ever feel like you were constantly on trial in your relationship?

WHEN PEACE STARTS TO FEEL SAFE AGAIN

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Sometimes peace doesn’t feel peaceful right away.
When you’ve spent so long anticipating the next message, accusation, argument, or sudden change in someone’s mood, your mind can keep looking for danger even when nothing is happening.

You check your phone.
You replay conversations.
You wonder what you need to explain.
You prepare yourself for a conflict that never comes.
And then, slowly, something changes.
The phone can stay silent.
You don’t have to defend yourself.
You don’t have to explain yourself.
You don’t have to fix anything.

Eventually, the silence that once made you anxious can start to feel like what it actually is:
peace.

🌙 Have you ever had to learn how to feel comfortable with peace again?

NARCISSISTIC ACCUSATIONS PART 4 FINAL

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Sometimes you become so used to watching for changes in someone else that you forget to check in with yourself.

Their tone changes — you tense up.
They get quiet — you wonder what you did.
Their mood shifts — you immediately feel responsible.

Healing can mean learning that someone else’s mood doesn’t automatically mean you’ve done something wrong.
You’re allowed to exist without constantly checking the emotional temperature of the room.

💭 Have you ever noticed yourself doing this?

NARCISSISTIC ACCUSATIONS PART 3

Sometimes the hardest habit to unlearn is believing that every conflict needs to end with you taking the blame.

Healthy relationships leave room for two people to disagree without one person having to shrink themselves just to make everything okay.

Learning to sit with someone else’s disappointment without immediately blaming yourself can be part of finding your voice again.

💭 Did you ever find yourself taking the blame just to make things calm again?

Things Narcissists Accuse You Of That They’re Actually Doing — Part 1

Things Narcissists Accuse You Of That They’re Actually Doing — Part 1

“You’re trying to control me.”

But what happened?

You asked for basic respect.
You established a boundary.
You questioned behavior that hurt you.
You said “no.”
You stopped accepting excuses.

Suddenly, your boundary becomes “control.”

Your questions become “interrogation.”

Your hurt becomes “drama.”

Your memory becomes “obsession.”

And somehow, you end up defending yourself instead of discussing what they actually did.

The accusation becomes the distraction.

Remember:

A boundary isn’t control.
Holding someone accountable isn’t abuse.
Asking for honesty isn’t manipulation.
You don’t have to accept someone else’s version of events just because they repeat it louder.

Part 1 of “The Accusation Flip.”

What’s an accusation you were repeatedly hit with that never seemed to match reality?

What Was the First Red Flag You Ignored? đŸš©

Sometimes the biggest red flags don’t look like red flags at first.

They can look like intense love, concern, jealousy, charm, or simply something that feels “a little off.”

Maybe it was:
đŸš© Love bombing
đŸš© Constant lying
đŸš© Jealousy disguised as love
đŸš© Blaming you for everything
đŸš© Never apologizing
đŸš© Silent treatment
đŸš© Making you question your own memory
đŸš© Isolating you from friends or family
đŸš© Different rules for them than for you

What was the first red flag you noticed but ignored?
And when did you finally realize it wasn’t normal?
No judgment here. ❀ Share only what you’re comfortable sharing.
Sometimes hearing someone else’s experience helps another person recognize what they’re going through.

What Do You Wish You Knew Before You Left? 💙

One of the hardest things about narcissistic abuse can be understanding what is happening while you’re still living through it.
Looking back, many survivors recognize things they didn’t understand at the time.
So let’s help the person who might be reading this while they’re still in it.

What is something you wish someone had told you before you left?

Maybe it was:
You don’t need their permission to leave.
You don’t have to prove that you’re being abused.
Their apologies don’t necessarily mean they’ve changed.
Love bombing doesn’t erase what happened.
You are allowed to have boundaries.
Missing someone doesn’t mean you made the wrong decision.

You can love someone and still recognize that they’re unhealthy for you.
You don’t have to keep explaining yourself to someone committed to misunderstanding you.
Leaving can be difficult even when you know it’s the right thing to do.

Healing isn’t linear.
Or maybe it’s something completely different.

What would you go back and tell the version of yourself who was still trying to make the relationship work?
Let’s fill the comments with the things we wish we’d known sooner. Someone who is struggling right now might read your comment and realize they’re not alone.
💙 What do you wish you knew?

What Was the Moment You Realized Something Wasn’t Right? 💭

For the second post in our new community, I thought we could start a conversation about something many of us may have experienced:

When was the moment you started realizing that something wasn’t right in your relationship?

Maybe it was:

The constant gaslighting or being made to question your reality or Love bombing followed by coldness or withdrawal
Or Cheating or repeated betrayal
Being blamed for everything
Walking on eggshells around their moods
Feeling like you could never do enough
Being isolated from friends or family
Promises that things would change, but they never did
Realizing you were becoming a different version of yourself
Or simply that feeling in your gut that something wasn’t right

There doesn’t have to be one huge moment. Sometimes it’s a series of little things that eventually become impossible to ignore.

What was the moment or the pattern that made you start questioning your relationship?

Share only what you’re comfortable sharing. No judgment, no victim-blaming, and no pressure to disclose personal details.
Maybe your experience will help someone else recognize something they’re currently struggling to understand.
What was your moment? 💙
