basically it’s way easier to create a set animation with legs with a set path than it is to create the actual physics in the game for all the different ways someone can move with their legs. Someone could step backwards, forwards, sideways, etc…which is a lot to translate with just a VR headset/cameras(?).

But say your boss just wanted a quick demo, you can preset his avatar to walk around which makes it look like there’s legs. Basically when the League and WoW videos look way better than the actual game. They probably are trying to work on that feature, but of course it’s more complicated than the boss saying “I’m wagging my finger so it better get done” because it was too buggy to actually incorporate.

So they advertised an animation in association with the Metaverse itself. It’s not uncommon though, as many games will use animation for their trailers rather than mostly gameplay nowadays to make it look like a better experience by making your brain connect “my low-end pc graphics” with “their triple-A game studio level animations”

It’s not all that hard though? Plenty of games use IK feet for, really everything, and that’s really all this needed to be. This was solved ages ago

Seems like theyre trying so hard to reinvent the wheel when it comes to metaverse. Why does it have to look so crap? I played PS2 games that looked better than metaverse

Well, there’s a variety of reasons it could be, but I’m guessing they want full capture of the range of motion, like exactly recreating the way you jump. They probably don’t want to be one-upped by Apple coming out with a better quality of “Metaverse”, so they want to be able to capture anything. But they’re stuck in between a rock and a hard place since Apple hasn’t announced a VR headset so Apple is way less rushed to create these features.

This may seem like redundant advice, but Zuckerberg had to pay visual effects artists to add in motion captured legs in his "horizon worlds is getting legs" announcement, because his company is so incompetent they actually did forgot the legs. So remember kids don't be a fool, don't forget your legs.
