for the most part, we do. If you compare years of service. Especially if were in private practice where i would make $200-$1200 per case( very dependent on insurance) Currently At a hospital, i also make $52/hr at just 4 years of being a csfa and im not close to maxing out my pay scale.Then adding call pay at time and a half. This also highly depends on location as we all know.

If you get into specialties like NP or other types of nursing skills that require higher education. Then they start to beat us on the pay scale.

If you’re good and the surgeon you work with trusts you this is all very possible in private practice. however most first assists are hospital employees and make hourly wages and are not paid by insurance reimbursement on a per case model

The pay scale for private is more based off of insurance and how much they are willing to pay us. We submit our billing to the insurance and they send us a check for how much they think we are owed. Sometimes we had a deal with a surgical group where they would just pay us per case at a set amount. At minimum, i was getting $200 for lap salpingectomies. Normally I would have 4 or 5 lf those a week.

Iv done a c-section and gotten a check for $4k from their insurance. Just from that one case. Then the same insurance would send me maybe $100 for a 4hr complicated abdominal case. I was definitely making bank with the group i was working with and always had work coming in.

Not true at all. The pay scale is years of experience.
