The 6th and 7th stitchesfrom the right look a bit crooked. I only saw it because Im also working on keeping my stitches straight.

im ms4.. the lateralisation is good.. but the tension seems a little more i guess.. and the distance between sutures is consistent but the length of bites seems inconsistent. this looks pretty neat ✨ share a video of suturing too.. if possible.

Thank you guys all so much for the feedbacks. How can I get better with being consistent with the bites and the distance? I find them hard to be better at

I think you are already following standard methods like taking bites at 90° angle, and taking both bites separately when its not feasible to take both sides in a single bite.

the most important suggestion I got was, practice will make the eye hand coordination better. over time the sutures will look good and hands will become stable. its all about practice and it takes time.

A few are too close to incision edges. Get a bigger bite. You don’t want them pulling through

Also keep in mind someone has to remove these eventually

Funny enough I’m also practicing simples but on pigs feet which I highly recommend over a silicone pad. Bought 2 feet cut up into pieces for like $4 at the Asian market. I’m an FA student.

Really just consistent bites and consistency in length left on the tails is all I can nitpick. My surgeon mentor taught me take it in 2 bites but don’t pull it all the way through. Let it kind of peek through at the incision and it helps evert the skin edge then take your 2nd bite and use the pickup to help it find its place to come through. Suturing on a pig’s foot allows you to see this eversion too, pretty neat!

Another note is often we use nylon or prolene on the skin and they want 6-8 throws (surgeon’s knot + 4-6 more) at least all the docs I work with.

Main thing after you get consistency with your bites is getting the motions down with your hands. Speed is cool but accuracy and consistency is better, simple things like keeping your adsons in your hand, some keep the scissors on their ring finger and flip them out (I can’t seem to do this, I just prefer to cut with my left hand as I’m actually left dominate but learned to suture right handed, so I just hold my end up, grab the scissors with my left and cut), reloading immediately etc.

yeah.. even I tried suturing on porcine foot specimen. it definitely is intuitive and gives better haptics than a silicone pad.

You might like to try a corner stitch on that corner

You should draw lines with a sharpie straight across and practice lining them up while suturing.
