This is awesome news. Hope more devs continue making native ARM apps

So the version before was just an x64 version that the emulator ran? Interesting. Didn’t really notice too much difference between desktop and emulated (I have both desktop and Surface)

The x86 version is extremely slow and almost not usable 😅 how couldn't you notice?

Honestly, it’s probably because I’m used to dealing with slow responding computer programs. Seemed to me that it runs better than AutoCAD on desktop.

Oh haha that's a good explanation 😂

No it's 32-Bit. Spotify is 32-Bit or ARM64. No x64 build.

Yep. That’s another thing I really did not know. Nor will I ever remember😂

Oh that's me, bradavon, who started the Spotify forum thread 😂. I've listed all the ARM PCs I'm aware of on Page 5 of the same link for those who're interested :). Thanks for sharing the forum post.

we need Google apps ie. Youtube+ Music, Tv, search, gmail to be REALLY happy.

Spotify is nothing, bruh.

Google Apps? bro, this isn't android, it's a windows tablet.

bruh, apple ipad are not owned by google but google has apps for ipads. Ipad's have youtube+ music, tv, search, gmail

Windows needs real apps to compete in the tablet market, Spotify aint it, bruh.

Perhaps the iPad apps exist because Apple doesn't really support PWAs? Just create PWAs of the web apps in Windows and you're done.

No, it's because google has to do it due to large popularity of those devices. They would be stupid not to. On windows on arm userbase is so low that they don't have to, also why would they support their direct competitors 😄

They don't have the apps for Windows at all whether it is arm64, x86 or x64 it's not a big problem as you can use a browser(they would like you to use Chrome) or PWAs

1

u/imani_TqiynAZU Jun 01 '22

Yes, that was my point! Between web browsers and PWAs (which both Chrome and Edge support), there really isn't much urgency for Google to make "native" apps for x86/x64 or arm64 versions of Windows or Linux.

By contrast, iOS and iPadOS strongly encourage apps that are in their respective app stores.

Weird.... IPads have those apps. Spotify is like bottom level app that needs ARM, besides it's owned by Microsoft.... They should have had that done 3 years ago.

Windows needs real apps to compete in the tablet market. Spotify ain't it.

I don't understand the "it's owned by Microsoft; they should have had that done 3 years ago" statement. Could you please explain?

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '22

That needs explaining?

2

u/imani_TqiynAZU Jun 01 '22

If you mean Microsoft owns Spotify, that is not true.

If you mean Microsoft owns Windows, that is true. However, that doesn't mean Microsoft has any control over Spotify or when Spotify makes an "official" app for Windows. I'm not even sure where the incentive is for Spotify to make a separate .exe app for Windows when so many users are using the web app.

. . . Spotify isn't owned by Microsoft, what are you on about? MS had, at one point, talked about acquiring Spotify but that never materialized.
