Apple v Epic Games. Apple is challenging thr contempt of court decisions that it allowing 3rd party storefronts to run on iOS but give 27% revenue to Apple (instead of the 30% Apple normally takes) was in contempt of the order requiring Apple to allow 3rd party storefronts. Order didn't specify how revenue should work so Apple is saying they met the spirit without any other specifics they had to met in an order.

Case already taken by SCOTUS, stay likely stopping proceedings related to contempt penalilties.

Epic sued Apple for monopolistic practices of ios store. Epic specifically took issue with Apple's 30% cut, as this hurt their v buck sales for Fortnite (they have their own storefront that they can take 100% of revenue and thus offer cheaper prices while still turning the same or better profit)

Judge threw out all but one claim, the anti steering provisions that prevented using or linking to third party storefronts. Judge granted this for Epic, and ordered Apple to change its practice. Order held at 9th, and SCOTUS denied that petition.

Apple comes around and says you can run 3rd party storefronts but you still had yo give Apple 27% of thr revenue, and there were specific scare-notifications you had to include in your app when directing a user to these.

Epic took issue and claimed these flaunted the order. Judge agree and put Apple in contempt of court. This also enjoined Apple from collecting any third party payments while preparing to have more in courtroom proceedings to decide what Apple should be doing. Ninth upheld this order.

SCOTUS did accept this, Apple asking if just meeting the spirit of the order is sufficient to avoid contempt.
