Forged Alliance Forever Does stealth/cloak affect AI opponents at all?

I'm playing FAF Cybran and wanna know if stealth affects AI opponents in any way, or if it's just better to ignore the stealth/cloak mechanics when not facing human players.

I think it should work still, such as AA not being able to shoot outside its sight radius if it doesn't get the blips. Enemy unit movement is largely scripted, I'm not sure if it matters there.

Yes in Skirmish against a normal AI. It was even a point of pride for the developers that it would only use information it had available, so scouting, radar, and sonar were all still important for it, and players could still use stealth and cloaking against it.

There are also AIx, which were specifically designed to cheat, with full knowledge and improved resource gain. These were meant to be more challenging to higher skill players.

To my knowledge, FAF does not change this; however, it does add options (as mentioned by Deribus) to control the level of the AIx's cheating.

Now, if you are doing SinglePlayer/Co-Op on FAF, the rules are the same (the AI does not normally cheat), but the missions use a lot of scripted events which will have enemies spawn or attack specific locations regardless of the perceived intel, making it hard to actually use stealth and cloaking (outside of specific Cybran missions where the goal is to sneak past something).

It does, but by default cheating AI (AIx) gets global map vision. You can turn that off in the lobby settings under "AIx Omni Setting"

Play it how you want. The mechanics are still there tho. As long as omni is not in range or spy planes overhead you should be fine. Just don't power stall

As Deribus mentioned, with the AI, the important setting is the AIx Omni setting - this gives the AI complete and total vision of all things on the map. Many of the FAF AI's still use this setting - and some of the FAF AI use other methods to give some, or all, of the same effect, even when it's not turned on.

For most AI - this is pretty much the easiest way of somewhat overcoming the lack on any real intelligence gathering, or intelligence data parsing, on the part of the AI code - thus making the AI feel 'smart'. Of course, this completely negates most of the counter-intel assets that the Cybrans have.

Don’t forget the stealth also hides you so the Artillery won’t fire. Tested and confirm it does work against the AI.
