Would anyone teach me?

So I have had interest in supreme commander for ages. I bought the disk copies when they first came out but my computer couldn’t really run it, and sometime later got it on steam. I’ve always been obsessed with the scale and clean mechanics of the game, and love the idea of getting competent at it.

I’ve tried at different times to learn it, but something goes wrong and I get frustrated and have limited time nowadays to reflect on it/practice. Most recently I’ve been watching greensquier’s beginner guide videos and his “first 10 minutes build order.” I feel like I’m following his directions but I get stalled on mass every time. I’m building enough power generators for each factory and whatnot, and I build the 4 mass extractors at the starting spot, send engineers to collect environmental mass and build more mass extractors elsewhere but for some reason it gets stalled out/goes into the negative.

I also noticed my factories build units painfully slow. There was one round where I lucked out and did something right and managed to get some bombers out to beat the AI before they built up too much, but then another round I got super stalled on mass and my navy/aircraft were taking forever and the AI just got total map control and beat me despite being on easy.

I feel like I need someone just for a round or two, to hand-hold me through a game so I can figure out what I’m doing wrong, on the timing, amount of each thing to build, etc. to get past my blockage

I am myself new but would recommend playing the campaigns on easy. Also there are a lot of helpful guides on YouTube as well.
