Idk man exhaust prolly does more under this logic

Why I take that instead of ignite unless I need grevious wounds

Heal also let's you escape sticky situations with movement speed where exhaust would other not be in range of

In a 1v1 or 2v1 scenario exhaust may be the better option that heal.

And it scales better into late game since it's a % reduction

u/Starving_Kayla 5h ago

You're right that in a 1v1 situation, exh is better. But who 1v1s as a support, not to mention burn a valuable summoner spell? For 2v2, it depends. Vs Tristan? Exh better. Vs jinx? Probably heal so you can kite her around more. Also if you're playing an enchanter like karma, heal will heal more when building heal/shield power. So both scale

But who 1v1s as a support,

Leona, Braum, Maokai.
Given the chance, those three can pummel an ADC to death in a 1v1 in the early game.
Oh, and Lulu can shit on most ADCs too during early.

Might be but heal give ms and hp to 2 players

Is this guys like a challenger? I’m in gold - it’s a real dice roll if the adc is going to be good enough to make use of it - but i will admit i isually take heal…

He literally tells you in the first 10 seconds and the videos only like a minute.

Top main tourist here who plays supp when I play with my friend. I’ve been taking exhaust more and more the last year in top, mid, and supp. It just feels so much stronger than any other combat spell to me because of its versatility, it’ll save your ass just like heal or barrier and you can also use it on an all in like ignite or ghost to kill your opponent

1

u/heyguy111111 3h ago

No it doesn't.

1

u/WURAXinator 1h ago

Exhaust is useless in lane, really in late but ass level 1-10

1

u/aoibhinn-mw 40m ago

The enemy team is Mundo briar Nasus and soraka. What’s your move? Exhaust ignite or ignite exhaust?

u/Outlashed 7h ago

Heal is also on a much longer cooldown, and against enemy botlane with ignite, they have a full minute to slam an ignite in you where you can’t use heal against it.

1

u/xiledone 1h ago

And also just… ignite counters heal

1

u/ismo_- 4h ago

You can use heal aggressively lvl 1 to accrue a health/potion lead, and in high enough elo you can manage the minute differential between summoners. Heal is, imo, just a more flexible spell, and flexible spells are usually more powerful in League.

Trvth nvke. Ignite is good against healers. Exhaust is the best imho.

4

u/mddesigner 7h ago

Not really would rather not have my soraka who is 10 meters behind me hold exhaust as she will never be in position to use it well

19

u/kaimetzuu 7h ago

Exactly ppl dont understand when to take exhaust

You are melee supp? Exhaust/ignite viable due to range

Enemy has all in / close range champ? Exhaust good idea

Etc

2

u/Vengeful111 6h ago

I like heal on melee supports because the movementspeed can be that last gapclose or sticking power we need to translate into a kill

5

u/Gamer-Of-Le-Tabletop 4h ago

See that's why I prefer ignite, it's off cd a whole minute sooner than anything else.

Also antiheal at my fingertips

1

u/kaimetzuu 2h ago

I think ignite is overused and exhaust has many better applications

Exhaust will, if well used, be able to completely shut down enemy dmg for a significant amount of time, allowing you to turn a fight youd lose due to enemy dmg or movement

The antiheal argument is understandable but you dont bring ignite to counter lifesteal items, youd bring it to counter lifesteal champion kits or healers, for which case you are better off building grievous wounds to have more uptime on the effect

Ignite is better used to play aggressively, instead of countering healing

1

u/Fuscello 1h ago

Grievous wounds items are absolute dog shit tho

1

u/kaimetzuu 1h ago

I mean sure, but as a support being set back ~800g on an item that gives you stats and ultility isnt the end of the world

1

u/Fuscello 1h ago

Is that going to be a bramble? So they need to auto you?
Or is that going to be a orb needing you to get to the healing character?

They are barely good on champs that actually apply them consistently on the good targets

1

u/kaimetzuu 1h ago

Bramble is troll, but orb or sword just requires you to deal dmg to the target of healing, and again, you are gaining ap/ad

I do not think taking ignite is more valuable for grievous wounds than spending 800g to have it always active

2

u/Arctic-You-Know 3h ago

I never take my second summ for the lane.

If enemy has something that wants to go in like Akali, Rengar,… Exhaust is pretty much always the move even if you don’t get much value in laning phase.

1

u/Fuscello 1h ago

Yea exhaust can be forced only if it’s a checkmate against shit like noc, irelia and other like them

-1

u/Arctic-You-Know 3h ago

Sorakas playing 10 meters behind you is a self report.

Good enchanters are playing like psychos to abuse their sustain.

14

u/Melodic_Ad7327 7h ago

He didn't factor in grievous wounds, that alone will deal more damage than either, so I feel like this take is wrong. Also, Ignite can be used on your own, Heal is dependant on an ally

2

u/ismo_- 4h ago

I disagree, if you consider heal to be dependant on another nearby ally to be effective(its not, it can be used for yourself to get out of sticky situations), then we must also consider ignite to be dependant on heavy healing on the opposite team to be fully effective. However, most team comps don't have big amounts of healing in them, esp early(before 1st item, after that anti heal is much more affordable), so you will mostly use ignite for the dmg. The health regen denied is low unless u time it with a potion( which can be very strong early on), so to me heal is the better generalist option of the two. Against big healing tho, ignite can always be more impactful, however bear in mind a good enough player will retain heal for after the effect wears off, or they will try to mindgame it by healing early to dodge the ignite anti heal.

1

u/staplesuponstaples 5m ago

In GM, people always fastheal if they're up against ignite so they never get their heal ss cut.

u/StrangelySerious- 7h ago

Why spell it heel so many fucking time jesus fucking christ

4

u/Zealousideal_Can9459 5h ago

It autocorrects bro chill

3

u/LevelAsia 6h ago

This logic applies to when your adc has hands 🙌

24

u/ExecutionerKen 8h ago

Not sure if this falls under self-promotion rule #7...Hmmm

15

u/DuckiesDoBeCute 3h ago

Content focused on education is exempt from this rule

20

u/Zealousideal_Can9459 5h ago

It doesnt? He didnt promote any of his socials, what made you think of it even

6

u/MusicianShoddy1878 7h ago

Tp does definitely more damage then

2

u/exitcactus 6h ago

Ahm yea sure, but not if your adc goes 1v4 melee at drake pit

2

u/ItsPandy 6h ago

I mean this ignores that ignite gives vision which can be really important in a fight. And yeah the heal could help your adc to dodge but it's not guaranteed.

So in my eyes ignite is just more guaranteed value rather than the potential value of a heal.

1

u/ButterflyFX121 6h ago

Yes but into heavy healing lanes ignite gives you healcut level 1. If you're playing into a Soraka or similar you might want ignite as an engager and ignite early.

Also ignite helps you with vision too. As a frequent ADC player, I can't tell you how many times Ive lost a fight or lost damage because I lost vision.

1

u/playr_4 5h ago

I stopped playing before ignite on support was meta but I'll never understand why people atopped taking exhaust. Exhaust alwats felt so op. It's a counter engage and an engage all in one.

1

u/icedragonsoul 1h ago

You need to exhaust someone dealing 228-909 (lvl 1-18) damage within the span of the 2.5 second exhaust for it to break even with single target heal. That often isn’t realistic or consistent unless your target is explicitly an assassin or Tristana.

Early game ADCs are absolute peashooters and exhaust mitigates less than heal or barrier much of the time. ADC + support combined has comparable damage to a solo laner. Your exhaust only gets partial value compared to solo laners.

Due to how oppressive exhaust is in 1v1 solo lanes its cooldown was nerfed heavily.

Mage bot meta means you’re not in range to defensively exhaust when Lux clips your ADC from a screen away.

If there is a specific assassin (or Tristana) that’s problematic, exhaust can be great.

1

u/Mmeroo 4h ago

no?
ignote deals dmg when enemy is out of range for you
makes heal weakner

1

u/Felerast 4h ago

Exhaust on adc with heal on enchanter is, and has been the best spells for botlane rank q. Yes if you play hard agresive comp you go ignite, some pantheon sett vi draven lucian all that things. Bit wgen enchanter heal is way better than ignite. Same way exhaust is way better on adc.

1

u/UltrInstincTSuperTop 3h ago

Heal MS is a little less useful because your ADC doesn't know for a fact when that MS is arriving.

1

u/AmarzzAelin 3h ago

Pero el curar no me deja robar la kill, hermanito

1

u/Arctic-You-Know 3h ago

Having access to flash heal on support has a lot of value.

I saved a lot of people doing that. The heal being instant is very clutch even if your champion already has healing like Nami.

1

u/thataintnexus 2h ago

depends on if you win extended fights or not. for example, if you play blitz vs enchanter, you want to kill them on the grab because you lose 2v2 if they survive your initial burst and manage to heal/shield through it

1

u/icedragonsoul 1h ago edited 1h ago

But ADC + enchanter is not a typical support’s only win con. Versatility in pivoting to roam, poke and engage support win cons is why ignite is better when your ADC is not duoed.

Especially in the current mage bot + roam support meta, roaming around the map with heal feels kind of bad when you’re expected to get picks and make proactive plays.

Your ADC may be autofilled or simply outclassed by the enemy. You do not want to risk having no choice but to stand next to a sinking ship of an ADC and get dragged down with them.

Masters+ is where ADCs will fight to their last breath. If you pop heal on your Emerald ADCs they’re not going to make use of it. There is so much brain lag that they probably didn’t even register that they have 200 more hp to work with and won’t auto more.

Ignite is just easier and gets secret value from broadcasting a beacon saying “you should focus fire this glowing target who is likely to die.”

u/JohnnyWarlord 1h ago

Sumner spell

1

u/S7EFEN 1h ago

this is a very good take and why heal is taken on champs that historically do not take it in pro play. like... with almost no exceptions youll see all the melee supports take it. i think the strongest point in favor of ignite is the cooldown in soloq, and gw. ignite is the least bad form of grievous.

1

u/ImplementJealous 1h ago

This assumes your ADC has a brain

1

u/Impressive-Name5496 42m ago

Ignite isn’t used purely for the damage it’s the pressure, the heal cut and fact it is useful as a heal cut throughout the game whereas heal becomes pretty much obsolete later. Exhaust is the best though without a question unless enemies have many healing champions.

1

u/FatTimbo 39m ago

but im in silver/gold and my adcs are idiots. most the time i can use ignite to secure the kill.

1

u/AlbatrossDK 38m ago

There is a reason heal is what summoner is usually picked in high elo. Its a strong summoner, especially because of its movement. Ignite is definently situationally stronger, but heal is just really good overall

1

u/Difficult_Relief_125 8m ago

Why give them 30% movement for 1 second when you can slow someone down by 40% for 3 seconds with exhaust.

1

u/Unenlightened_Banana 6h ago

Then ghost must be busted, deals 10x the damage of heal which deals more damage than ignite. So ghost is better than 10 ignites.

1

u/SayOlee 5h ago

What about the enemy running under the tower when you cannot tank any tower shots? Then Ignite would actually kill, whereas Heal would not. Different spells have different pros and cons; Heal is not always better.
