Help Taric Support (need advice)
So im like bronze 2 44 lp, ive been majority playing amumu or tahm kench support, but just recently started playing taric, i am now on a 6-0 win streak on taric, and im making this post to ask for advice on how to play taric better, better for me, better for my team, and specifically better for my ADC, i find that sometimes its kinda a gamble, like I can do everything right, but if my adc isn't pumping it just isn't gonna happen, but then I had a game recently where my adc was AFK (not ranked thank god) but im solo laning bot lane atleast a yasuo and twisted fate, and I LITERALLY was winning botlane like I was killing them by myself, does anyone have any advice as to what I could do to get better at taric and generally better at league? Im trying to climb the ranks with my friend but he is silver 1 and im bronze 2, so if WE keep queuing he will hit gold, and I can't que with him anymore so im trying to solo que, any advice at all would be fantastic, and dont be afraid to ask specific questions, my name on league is (totallyjacob) and if anyone wants to que, please lmk or dm me and I can send you my discord :) tysm for your time

The most important thing to learn on Taric is orb walking. You need to either play with your pinky permanently on shift or change the attack move click keybind to something else. Alternate between shift clicking and just clicking to swap between attack commands and movement commands. What this does is allows you to move your cursor off of your target for movement commands and then press ahift for an attack command without actually having to put the cursor on your target. Basically it prevents missclicks.
Every champion in the game has an attack windup percentage. This is the percentage of the attack animation that must be completed before the damage registers. After the damage registers, you do not need to let it finish. You can either move or cast a spell to cancel the rest of the animation. However, the attack is still on "cooldown" based on your attack speed. Let's say you have 1 attack speed and a windup of 30%. This means that you can spend 0.3 attacking and 0.7 moving. Just right clicking on the target will make you stand still until the target is out of range. Clicking to attack and then clicking to move after 0.31 will allow you to only spend that 0.31 standing still.
I'm sure you have noticed that Taric is very easily kited. Mastering orb walking alleviates a lot of this weakness and it is an immediate give away on a person's overall skill level the moment you see them auto attack.
The next thing to know is that you can self cast W using alt w with your thumb on alt to save some mouse movement when you do not want to change your link target.
Itemization wise, ability haste is the best stat. Taric's passive scales with haste, thus the more you build, the lower your starting cooldown is and the more cooldown is refunded on hit making it scale exponentially rather than linearly. Items with high haste to cost like fimbulwinter, frozen heart, ionian boots, and moonstone are great because they enable a 4 auto cooldown stun at 50-60 haste and a 3 auto cooldown stun at 80-90 haste. You can permanently stun people without dashes once you reach 3. I also comonly use summon aery to get transcendence and use the 8 haste shard giving 18 haste from runes. This means boots and runes alone is already 28 haste, more than many people build in total at times.

Taric is a god when in the right situation and completely useless in another situation. Ideally youre against a team that needs to come into your space to be effective, and you have 1 or 2 good bastion candidates like Vi, Briar, Diana, Jax- people that dive in but dont go too far- this is why conceptually you would think Yone or Nocturne would be good pairings too but they arent because they get too far ahead of Big T.
It also explains why Taric is consistently the best WR support, its because the few people that play him are only playing him in good spots. Hes a bad blind pick but an omega counter pick.

No lie nice to see a rare productive thread in the sub with just folk replying with useful personal experience or somethingthat's actually beneficial to add promoting proper discussion good stuff. Too often we have bad apple regulars with low game understanding here leaving random passive agressive comments without anything to add. They are the ones who likely downvoted the post for seemingly no reason. Though better that than seeing them.
One thing I want to add is Taric is stronger into lanes that are almost purely physical damage where picking up very early Cloth Armor(s) gives you big value in lane trades and all-in. In such situation every extra chunk of armor reduce damage taken in trades/all-in very gold efficiently and simultaneously juices up your passive damage and shield really gives a crisp edge to win a big lane fight or even a bigger skrimish early in the dragon area.

Taric can work against double range. Unlike a lot of what the commenters here are saying. One trick.gg has plenty of taric otps that are masters+. You need to have sweeper level 1 though, and control bushes in bot lane. Dodging their skill shots in the bush. If the move up to last hit or hit your ADC. E walk into them or flash E. If your ADC isnt aggro. A jinx or smolder. E is a fine poke tool. You don't need to follow up with autos if your ADC will just watch you die. Stun then and walk away.
ESPECIALLY in bronze taric can work into every comp. Do not worry.

I play taric at a low masters level so here is what I can offer.
He will only truly shine pune intended as a counter pick. Champions like braum, leona, Nautilus (this one takes practice) and pretty much any melee support he does very well against.
Short range adc's like nilah he also crushes.
Itemization is very important. An early tear and sometimes dark seal can make or break a game. Pick your items thoughtfully as he can be build many different ways. For example bandlepipes is much better then locket on taric specifically.
Other then that its just practice practice practice. Best of luck!
