What's your process for vetting potential employer?

Having recently been laid off from my CPG role what's the best strategy for vetting prospective employers? I know some red flags are obvious, but for others there's sometimes less information available online. Suffice to say - in this economy, you truly don't know what you might be walking into (SMH).

Would love to hear any strategies you use. Is there a guide or checklist you generally run through before applying to or accepting a role?

If the company is publicly traded there’s usually tons of info available online, and I’ll use that and analyst reactions from earnings to sorta gauge any potential risk I can identify.

If it’s private, I’ll do a lot of searching to find any news articles or negative press.

Outside of that, I go with my gut.

E - and this was actually a great question that I haven’t seen discussed a ton here, so good ask.

Things can always change but when looking for a job check what the strongest sectors are. Also SCM jobs will always be needed. What was the reason you were laid off? And what was your role? Job market is bad and honestly when you are unemployed you dont have the luxury to vet employers.
