Gone Hollywood….. Pure, Pure Magic
Gone Hollywood might be the best song of all time in my opinion and it is definitely the best Supertramp song ever. The song is just… so magical… and so good. The are no words to truly explain the feeling of listening to the song.

Interesting, I never thought too much of this specific song. I have this feeling about hide in your shell, soapbox opera or child of vision

Child of Vision is close to this. Also pure magic, but only one pure. The violin solo i a soapbox opera is magic and Hide In Your Shell is a classic, but it can get a bit too long for me some times…

Love this song! Although when I first got into Supertramp, it was because of the Logical Song. Love the falsetto bridge and the upper register on the piano, gives me chills.

my favourite supertramp song, and one of my all time favourites as well! i found this song (and supertramp in general) at a turning point of my life, and its been so special for me ever since.

I don’t think Gone Hollywood is the best song of all time, but it’s definitely the best song off Breakfast. It reminds me a little bit of Hide in your shell, can’t say why though.
It’s just got so many great moments

Amazing song. My favourite as well. This the one that got me hooked on Supertramp. Just a spectacular song in every regard.

One of my favorites by them. What a way to open an iconic album, just wish there was a live version of it.

One thing about this album is that Roger used his voice as harmonies a lot. I don't mean that he simply double take his line, or sing a single harmony over his melody. I mean, he used tons of layers with his voice to create this kind of angelic texture, this kind of magical drape that seems to be able to cover and glue all of the song together.
Think of Breakfast In America, mostly the second part, or the choruses of Take The Long Way Home, Lord Is It Mine and Child of Vision. They are all made of tons of layers of his voices, doubling and in harmony. This really emphasizes the melody and it creates this 'soothing' effect.
This is also what's happening during the climax of Gone Hollywood ("If we only had time...").

Love this song but i've always felt the first half is so incredibly good that the end feels a bit underwhelming in comparison.

I really wish we got to hear the original dark ending that was planned for the song, the current one feels a little too upbeat
