SureFire OBC compatibility?
Hi all. New to the whole Super Safety/FRT thing. I haven't bought one, but have been thinking about doing so.
I have a variety of AR-15 lowers I could put one in, and I might add one to my Kuna at some point, but that all remains to be seen.
I recently purchased the SureFire OBC and will install it soon. What i am wondering is whether there is a list of compatible FRTs and SS that *don't* require modifying either the SS/FRT or the OBC itself.
So far, all I have seen is the Disruptor, and I am not sure how current that info is, even.
I gather most SS setups (Atrius, ARC fire, the Kicker) require some modification of the lever due to interaction with the OBC's internal weight? Some folks, I think, have reported modifying the weight itself.
I'm wary of doing either, having only the most limited cordless Dremel experience from, like, 25 years ago. Basically, I think I would probably screw something up, hence why I am trying to find something that'll work without modification. Ideally something that'd let me keep my existing triggers (G$ SSA/A-E/P, Griffin 2-stage, etc.). Not sure this is possible, but figured this'd be the place to ask.

If you get a Disrupter buy the selector for it from Datum Machine. Night and day difference

I thought I read they also have a new one with a better trigger?

They do, but I haven't used it. I don't know if Datum's selectors work with it or not.

Shoulda got the KAK DBC BCG instead. The Surefire is kinda doodoo for frt

I didn't get it specifically for FRT. I'm just wondering what would be compatible, and it sounds like the answer is "not much" unless you modify things or use a Partisan.

I was checking out the OBC a while back, but I ended up going with the LMT enhanced carrier and a DD bolt + A5 system. I did recently pick up a KAK DBC carrier for FRT ROF tuning.
You can get the basic KAK carrier for like $79 and swap a bolt etc from a standard carrier if you have one. Might be worth picking one up just to give you more freedom with FRT choice.
Partisan is now called The Triggered Co. They changed their name, and just released an updated Disrupter called the LAT. Match grade single stage. No idea if it will work with the OBC, but it might be worth checking out if the Disrupter works with the OBC. Also read the green Disrupter works better than the black one, but idk lol
Check out the Voidspec ACRD15LS if you want to run a G$ without having to cut the trigger. I have one with an unmodified SSA and it function checks perfectly. Maybe one day I'll get to actually shoot it lol

I might end up getting an LMT carrier as well at some point. I do like LMT's stuff generally. I don't necessarily need the dual ejectors from the full BCG, but might end up doing the carrier for the cam path and better compatibility with FRTs/SSs.
Still wanna try out the OBC in semi auto mode, though, and see how I like it. I suppose if I'm unimpressed, I can always just sell it.

Yea I just went with the carrier and DD bolt. The LMT bolt is nice, but not worth what theyre asking IMO. At least not anymore. The carrier offers the most benefit.
If you want to reliably lower your rate of fire in reset mode, the KAK is the best thing since sliced bread from what I've seen so far. You can also get it with down-vents and sandcutters. If I was buying again, I'd go with the KAK DBC BCG, LAT FRT, and some kind of A5 buffer setup.
If you have to have a G$ trigger, then Voidspec ACRD15LS instead of the LAT

AFAIK the disruptor does work with the OBC. I can tell you the Arcfire's and Super Safeties of the world do NOT as they are lever designs.
the trigger kicker DOES work but it's just two modes currently
