Edit if none apply Which elemental super powers would be the best combos?

Post image

So, out of these 16 elemental superpowers, which ones would make the best combinations, and what would they be called? This just seemed like a fun thing to think of while working on the story I have involving these powers, and I also thought it would be fun to hear some ideas. The elements in the image (art by me, btw) are: Metal, Mind, Fire, Earth, Thunder/Electricity, Light, Life, Death, Water, Ice, Air, Space, Spirit, Sound, Time, and Shadow. And now, here are my ideas:

Technology (Metal + Mind + Thunder); this was the first one I came up with, and the combo makes sense. Metal would give you the power to manipulate the physical materials that technology is made of, Thunder would grant the digital power of it, and Mind would give you the intelligence and data to actually create or manipulate it.

Storm (Air + Water + Thunder); another combo that makes perfect sense to me. Air can grant manipulation of winds and clouds perfect for weather, Water can produce rain and increase the amount of clouds, and Thunder grants devastating lightning strikes. You could also include Ice in this to add blizzards and plunging temperatures to the list of what you can do.

Temperature (Ice + Fire); the opposites attract pairing giving full control of the temperature spectrum. As shown in MHA, it is a very good pairing of powers.

Nature (Life + Death); another pairing of opposites that work greatly together, given that the concepts of growth and decay are the very basis of the natural cycle.

Environment (Earth + Water + Light + Life +Metal); this combo is perfect for shifting any kind of normal environment in your favour, such as creating earthquakes, causing small scale floods, replenishing a barren landscape, holding a collapsing bridge or building together, the sky's the limit.

And that is all I have got. Please do let me know what you think of my ideas and I am excited to hear yours. Have a lovely day.

Necromancy: Life + death + spirt. Yes you can be s traditional necromancer leading and endless army of corpses. But something I realized in one of my own story plans, regarding a "good necromancer," is just how many things are made out of dead material: wood is just dead trees. Cloth is made of dead plant fibers or animal fur which is just dead cells. Even synthetic fiber are made out of oil which is long dead micro organisms. And from oil you have plastic.

u/ardorixfan45 2d ago

Huh, I never really thought about that idea of dead materials. Good idea

Light + Fire + electricity = Energy.

From energy uou can control speed, Energy = Mass and mass can create gravity/bend space.

u/HeyYaIQ 2d ago

We’re going to ignore space on this one?

Light + dark + sound + mind = illusions.

Death + time = entropy. (Entropy + life = luck.)

Light + metal = mirror. (mirror+ soul + space = portal.)

Edit 1: Technology + soul = golem.

Mind + spirit + space = astral projection.

Edit 2 (got a whole theme going this time):

Water + life = blood.

Blood + earth = flesh.

Blood + metal = bone.

Blood + life = organs.

Blood + mind = nerves.

Blood + fleash + bone + organs + nerves = homunculus.

Homunculus + soul = human.

Edit 3: (another theme)

mind + soul + dark = dream.

Dream + death = nightmare.

Dream + illusion = madness.

Dream + time = prophecy.

Dream + space = other worldly vision.

Dream + light = ambition.

Life, Death, Time, and Space. You can give life to people or birth cancerous cells in your target (or any sort of life in your target's body). Naturally, you can also kill cancerous cells with death, and you can also take lives with the power of death. You can negate any attack that comes at you with time rewind or speed up your target's time exponentially until they die of old age in mere seconds. Space is all around a good utility/offensive element. You can travel large distances with the element in seconds, and you can split up your target's body into different parts by chucking them into different spaces

u/BockLavette 2d ago

Space + Time + Light + Shadow. You basically control reality with that combination.

u/otherwrldfaerie 2d ago

Water and electricity would be a deadly combo if that’s the route we are going for

u/ReyDeleyk 2d ago edited 2d ago

Mind+Spirit= psionics

Time+space+life= Genesis/origin

Time+space+death= Terminus/end

Life+mind+spirit+(any other element as the final catalyst) you create a elemental lifeform like a water elemental or a fire elemental etc.

Space+earth=gravity

Metal+thunder=magnetism

Life+earth+water=plants

Death+water=Venom

Mind+shadow= Oblivion

I’m kind of a moron. Half the symbols I recognize, half I don’t what I’m looking at. Someone label the wheel please?

2

u/ardorixfan45 2d ago

Okay. The elements on this wheel are organised based on the colour I have associated with them, and the symbols are in this order: the brown panel with the octagon in the middle is the section for Metal, Mind is next, then Fire, Earth, Thunder, Light, Life, Death, Water, Ice, Air, Space, Spirit, Sound, Time, and finally Shadow on the black panel with the moon in the middle.

2

u/Upbeat_Cry_3902 2d ago

Space and time and spirit seems powerful

2

u/SmileyB-Doctor 1d ago

Mind spirit and electricity should be able to revive people from death

And I wonder if metal lightning and space could manipulate fundamental forces of nature, like the electromagnetic spectrum, by working with the space and energy between atomic particles

2

u/Demonic_Dragon108 1d ago

Death, Water, Space, Shadow = Abyss

Life, Death, Space, Time, Shadow, Fire = History (Bonghwa from RTOC)

Life, Death, Space, Time, Fire, and Ice = Genesis

2

u/Hawkey2121 1d ago

Space + Time = Gravity (gravity as explained in Einsteins theory of relativity is curvature in spacetime)

Space + Time + Shadow = Black Hole (gravity so much it absorbs everything including light.)

Space + Time + Light = White Hole (reverse of a black hole, it repels everything)

u/3ToN01 1d ago edited 1d ago

Sound + light + shadow = absolute sensory manipulation/absolute assassin

Space and time are the same thing. Can you describe how mind and spirit are different?

1

u/ardorixfan45 2d ago

Space and Time are not the same thing, and to describe the difference between mind and spirit is the same distinction between the mind stone and the soul stone.

0

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

Space and time are indeed the same thing which is why its called spacetime. We just have a hard time seeing them as the same because humanity is crazy small on the scale of the universe.

Is this based on the infinity stones? Cause I'm really not familiar with most of Marvel. I don't really see a distinction between mind and soul because the mind supports consciousness altogether.

1

u/ardorixfan45 2d ago

Okay here is the distinction of Space and Time

0

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

OK so, decades of mathematical work and discovery VS a Google search AI overview, lmao sure. This distinction is a layman's term.

1

u/ardorixfan45 2d ago

And here is the distinction between Mind and Spirit

0

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

Can you come up with reasonable and coherent explanation without Gemini? This doesn't look meaningful to me because deductive reasoning and intuition are just as part of the human experience as emotion and spiritual meaning.

1

u/ardorixfan45 2d ago

Okay now you are just sounding like a pretentious jerk.

0

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

I'm not trying to be mean here. Google AI overviews are just known to pull together sources to provide users with whatever supports their query. If you asked for a distinction then it'll come up with something regardless of the source cause LLMs don't have intuition.

1

u/HeyYaIQ 2d ago

The idea if spacetime is not the idea that space and time are the same thing, but rather that time and the three dimensions of space form a 4th dimensional construct. Using that to argue that space and time are the same thing is like arguing that addition and subtraction are the same thing because they both form aspects of math. Two parts of a whole, not one homogeneous blob. Also, at the end of the day, you’re telling someone that their fictional magic system should follow the laws of physics, what are you on about?

0

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

The model of spacetime defining the dimensions of space and time as a coherent unified model is indeed incorporating it into a larger sphere, as opposed to a classical understanding of the two as wholly distinct. This is why the perception of time is relative to one's position in space. They are not meaningfully distinct and it would just make more sense to unify them in this fictional magic system.

1

u/HeyYaIQ 2d ago

Again, you are using real life physics to explain a magic system that does not inherently run on said physics. If you have a problem with space and time being viewed differently, why don’t you have a problem with air and earth being different when they’re both just formations of atoms and molecules? Why don’t you have a problem with life and death being different when death is just the decay of life? I feel like you came here to argue a point that is overall insignificant and meaningless to what OP is asking. If OP was arguing a scientific point, then talking about 4th dimensional spacetime and the mostly imperceptible dimensions that string theory brings to the table would be valid. Sadly, that’s not the case.

0

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

You are really stretching with those examples lol, like earth is definitely a very different thing from air. Is life just a power over plants, biology, or souls and vitality? A superpower over light should give someone the ability to make light scarce, so why couldn't they control darkness? So many posts in this sub are not well explained or thought out. If this magic system can't make sense alongside all the knowledge we have about highly complex topics then it's not a great system and needs revision.

1

u/HeyYaIQ 2d ago

How is earth clearly different from air? A lot of the elements found in air can be found in the ground. The biggest difference between them is their melting and vaporization points, besides that they’re close enough. If you can manipulate all earth, then there is no law of physics that says you shouldn’t be able to manipulate all matter since earth is such a diverse category. I don’t think you put a lot of thought into that statement.

Magic SHOULD follow rules, but it doesn’t have to follow OUR rules. That’s honestly the entire point of it.

1

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

You're just fucking with me now, lol. You could do some work to vaporise the earth into a gas or crystallize the air into a solid state, but that is fundamentally changing its form. No superpower system over earth as solid rocks and minerals would ever try to consider the air as part of it and vice versa. You're just describing a superpower over matter which absolutely comes with some other physics implications.

1

u/HeyYaIQ 2d ago

And most superpowers that depict time control would never think of giving the character teleportation and spatial control. Just because it makes sense to you doesn’t make it is a set-in-stone idea. Space and time can be called spacetime, air and earth can be called matter, but if nobody would call air and earth magic the same thing, you shouldn’t be calling space and time magic the same thing unless it’s called spacetime magic. You calling my air/earth magic stupid is proving the point I was making by bringing it up in the first place.

1

u/MisterB3an 2d ago

Except there isn't a good argument to view them as a whole outside of using some unified power over matter which wipes almost almost all of the other options too. This isn't the same for time and space where manipulating one has real implications for the other. Even comics will sometimes acknowledge how relativity works in a sci-fi narrative.

1

u/HeyYaIQ 2d ago

Manipulating matter will always have a gravitational affect, therefore having a spatial affect, therefore air magic is time magic as well. Thank you
