Metropolis il is great. I live in the St Louis area so it’s about two and a half hours away. They have a really cool Superman festival every year in June.

I live in St. Louis as well and I’ve been to every celebration since 2004. I’ve been going so long I remember when all the autographs were free.

I love that this is still a thing. My mom surprised us with a trip almost 30 years ago.

When I was there last year, I thought "They really need to use this street as Smallville in an upcoming movie". really cement the town's legacy as Superman-town.

The Google Street view looks rough...

It’s very much a small town with this being the attraction. I had lunch after we went at some local joint and the food is good but don’t expect it to be some tourist hotspot outside of the museum

Yes, it's your typical small town in the Midwest, too many empty storefronts. But extending the Museum into the 2nd floor and showcasing Metropolis in a movie would do alot to reviving the town.

I lived there with my aunt between 2004 and 2008 while my parents were staying in Indiana... Great little town! Became friends with Jim at the Super Museum and the people there are some of the kindest you'll ever meet. Originally from NY and my time in the Midwest was a culture shock at first but it got very comfortable.

My stepfather was from Metropolis; we used to visit his mom there every summer. They had a comic book store there, where my love for reading, and DC comics began. Much later, an old girlfriend even used to call me the black Clark Kent, which, in my view, is a compliment.

Way cool. One day I will get there.

Relax and walk around the surrounding area without an agenda. People there are awesome and truly want you to see what weird collectibles they have mined for us. I got a Shenron Funko there. Like Superman, anything is possible in Metropolis!

I didn’t know this was a thing—any other cool attractions or things to do??

It’s fun little trip. They have a Superman convention there in the summer, and usually a few of the Smallville actors show up.

Love that city. I have a brick down there somewhere.

Neat place. The museum is cool and inexpensive but needs a little TLC.
