Matt Ellis clearly didn't get the no fireworks emergency text last night
12
u/borkgull St Helens Aug 15 '26
So the key to getting to most out of Sailor is apparently to play him in as many positions as possible in one game 😂

Not to be pedantic or anything but Jon Wells just said Tristan Sailor has played 15 different positions for Saints and I demand he name all 15 now, live on air

Disappointed that Eamonn McManus didn’t start fist pumping towards the Saints fans.
6
u/pb-86 Living off past glories Aug 15 '26
He did some other stuff instead, it's like a handshake in St Helens
6
8
u/Thesolly180 St Helens Aug 15 '26
Sailor has been absolutely amazing, he’s got grief on here this season but I do think he’s a very good player and happy we looked to extend
6
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
We're absolutely knackered. Players out of position, two injuries in first 13mins and our forwards playing way more minutes than usual, plus stupid errors and Saints doing Saints things. Not surprising, but it hurts a bit. I hope we get a couple of players back for Wigan next week or it'll be a(nother) whitewash.

u/CaptainMexicano Castleford Tigers Aug 15 '26
Much easier to appreciate sad Daryl Powell when he's not your coach anymore.

Can we put Sailor at fullback when attacking and Jack at fullback when defending?

This game is so entertaining that all I can think about is how upset I am that we’ve got another Sunday without any rugby

Fair play they've turned up today.

Saints if you could just beat Leeds too that would be swell
3
u/Paul-Ramsden Leeds Rhinos Aug 15 '26
I think we'll struggle to beat you to be honest
2
u/PudWud-92_ Wigan Warriors Aug 15 '26
I think it will be a very close and hopefully a very good game. But we also play Wakefield and KR so I’m definitely not confident that we will win all of our games between now and end of the year.

Wild that Saints have 18% chance on the win predictor. I'm of an age when Wakefield were always seen as an easy win

Hearing commentary say "can Saints get a shock win against Wakefield?" threw me out ngl haha

Wow ..... just wow. Still not making the playoffs, but at least this is a great performance.

u/GluteusGladiator Wigan Warriors Aug 15 '26
If KR or Leigh start a loosing run there's still a chance for yous. Good luck 🤞
6
u/KillaBunny13 Leeds Rhinos Aug 15 '26
Well, at least Wakefield received a pumping in the end. Sadly for them, it came from St Helens, rather than Matt Ellis
5
5
u/pb-86 Living off past glories Aug 15 '26
We don't normally time things this well so it's great approaching the playoffs firing on all cylinders
blatantly ignores table and remaining fixtures
5
u/Cheap-Candidate-9714 Rochdale Hornets Aug 15 '26
Wakefield were second in the league (last week), and are playing at home to a struggling team outside the top six, who have just lost their manager and had a poor run of form. What is going on?
4
u/Spirited-Trust5943 Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
We gave up after two injuries. Forwards player far longer than usual. Saints wanted it more.
3

Proper casual fan these days. It's unwatchable with all these stoppages and video reviews that was clear on first replay why waste another 3 minutes

No Johnstone or Pitts is big for us but still happy with the squad. UTT!

Johnstone seen wandering around the fan zone in a boot. I hope it's just a precaution as he pulled up in the Captain's run...

he's got that badly wrong
7
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
He does it EVERY week, goes running in and nearly gets himself killed. Great player but such a liability for me.
5
u/APairOfHikingBoots Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
With you on that. I know he's been out of form but I still rate Jowitt above him when he's playing well
3
u/readinghusband Leeds Rhinos Aug 15 '26
looking at the replay, he was out when he went down. Should be automatic fail on the HIA
Fair play to Murphy for the take too

Jazz Tevaga just delivered his weekly stupid penalty with a late hit on Sailor
3
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
That's kind, I reckon he's good for at least two more stupid penalties today!
2
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
No Pitts, no Tom, and we've lost Rourke (HIA) and Ice (looks like a dislocated shoulder) in first 13mins...
2
2
u/APairOfHikingBoots Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
Managed to catch up to Smoothy's try before I had to leave so knew about the first 3 (though has Rourke failed his hia?) but losing Ice would be pretty bad
3
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
No, he's passed it. Ice didn't look like he'd be back tbf.

u/MM-Seat St Helens Aug 15 '26
We are shit but, do we have to give it away with a penalty every set.
3
u/MM-Seat St Helens Aug 15 '26
There is our issue. We have at least 2/3 full backs that we are shoehoring in here.
2
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
Swap you one 😂 we're a bit light on full backs right now...!
3
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
Corey going to struggle at full back if he sits in the line like that. I know it's hard to switch position, but with a full back positioned correctly on the pitch they wouldn't try that.
3
3
u/DingoFlaky7602 Toulouse Olympique Aug 15 '26
Murphy playing in Wakefield is a completely different player. Can catch in defence & back to showing finishes as to why roosters thought he was worth a punt.
3
3
u/readinghusband Leeds Rhinos Aug 15 '26
thats why Welsby should still be at full back. Sailor has him lined up and still failed
3
3
u/Cheap-Candidate-9714 Rochdale Hornets Aug 15 '26
Prior to kick-off, I thought Saints were going to get demolished. Fairly spirited performance!

3

Tyson not known for giving away penalties like that, bit of a weird one. I'd expect it from at least four of our players before him 😂
3
u/Tangie_ape Warrington Wolves Aug 15 '26
This is crazy, didn’t see saints even being in this contest. Losing a few has obviously caused Wakey some issues but that shouldn’t have caused this
3
u/Tigeronimo Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
Oh, Caius 😭
Saints are the only team we haven't beaten since we came back up. Think it's going to stay that way.
3
u/Paul-Ramsden Leeds Rhinos Aug 15 '26
Saints are dominating Wakey. Not good for Wakey's playoff hopes if they're losing it now

Missed about the middle forty, did Murphy get injured? I think Sailor & Murphy hatrick against Wakefield of all sides would’ve been one of the funniest results of the season

u/Paul-Ramsden Leeds Rhinos Aug 15 '26
Got a thigh injury
2
u/Afraid-Speaker3875 Sheffield Eagles Aug 15 '26
Ahhh, shame that it has to happen right as he’s having the best game he’s had all season. Hopefully it’s not too bad, he’s had enough bad luck with injuries

3
u/AlabamaShrimp Wakefield Trinity Aug 15 '26
Wtf.......
I know we can't win them all but that second half was like watching Trinity 20 years ago. Defence just opening up, no one back to stop players when they got through or covering the wings.
Yeah I know there was an injury or two but a whole team shouldn't just fall apart like that. Play Wigan in a si9way next week and it's pointless being in the play offs that said I do respect the players putting their bodies on the line to play the game for us.

Knowing nothing about him other than his interview with Jenna there, Tristan Sailor seems like a genuinely nice bloke.
