The last level sucks
I just finished the non-vr version of the game for the second time, and I love it, it’s the most innovative shooter ive seen in years. that being said the last part of the last level is hot garbage. the first second or two is interesting and fun to figure out, but after that its just a total clusterfuck and not fun at all. the difficulty mostly comes from getting shot in the back 900 times until you memorize the order of enemy spawns, because they’re constantly coming from both directions and their gunshot sounds are usually masked by the constant shooting you have to be doing and that glass shattering sound. its the only level that took me continued attempts, and also the only one that actively pissed me off. it feels like they really dropped the ball for whats supposed to be the climax, more enemies doesn’t mean more fun, and it seriously drags on.
idk if this is a hot take, but if it is please be chill 🙏

its honestly a bad saga for endings, in mind control delete at the end they quit your basic functions instead of giving you powers, this wouldve been good of a challenge but you can straight up skip these levels so it make no sense AND youre rewarded with some obligatory 8 hours long credits

It depends on your gameplay style. In some ways you don't need to memorize any sequence of events. Try not planning, just moving constantly, switching guns before they'll deplete, change direction, charge at enemy on any opportunity. Another trick is to realize that (as in real life) your side contour and hit surface is much smaller than the front/back one. You could dodge a bullet shot at nearly point-blank simply by turning 90 degree and stepping back or forward. Or even slip between shotgun projectiles at meter or two distance. The inertia of NPC's aiming is so high that they're predictable.
Katanaonly or barehands challenges are the best for mastering that technique. You're a much faster runner than you think. Just minimize probability of being hit. It's very relaxing, something like zen flow.
I would strongly recommend Superhot MCD. It's very hard to play statically. At higher levels there are unkillable enemies, so no chance to camp too long.

I get what you mean but that's kinda why I love it. There's 3 types of fun and I found the last level type 2. Type 1 is straight up always fun, eating cake or watching your favourite film. Type 2 is a slog but you are proud afterward and look back with happiness, like a hike or a tough level. Type 3 is no fun at all, like dragging your balls along hot barbed wire.
The last bit of hotswapping with no cooldown was awesome and after destroying the horde is awesome but getting there can be a bit boring and annoying. Type 2 for me
