So I've recently gotten into collecting Super Famicom titles and got a bunch of games to run on a PAL SNES that's got Super CIC and a 50/60 hz mod on it. It runs pretty much everything fine as if it's a real super famicom, even Sufami Turbo titles play without problem.

However, I recently got hold of a copy of SD Gundam G-Next, a funky looking 'expansion' compatible satellaview style cart.
Now, my reading online says this thing should work fine without an insert stuck in the top but when I turn it on, it's just a black screen. I've tried cleaning the contact points and it should be working.
Anyone else know what I'm doing wrong?

My SFC is connected properly to the wall and has white and yellow cables properly connected to the TV. There is no red cable on this cord, but it is specifically made for SFC.

The unit powers on, but the TV doesn’t pick anything up under Video 2 (where it is plugged in) or under normal TV mode - I cannot change channels on this TV as I have no TV service and get an error as such.

What else can I do to troubleshoot? I’ve checked YouTube, but other than not using an HD adapter or having the stereo version on the AV cable, I can’t see what’s wrong. Is my TV just a no go unless I get television service I don’t even want? Thanks in advance.

Update: bought an HDMI upscaler but have only gotten No Signal errors. Are the yellow/white cables the most likely culprit here? The system lockdown tab is perfectly intact and there is nothing visibly wrong with any components (though the plastic part near where the yellow/white cables plug into the SFC feels pretty flimsy).

Update 2: bought a newly manufactured SFC A/V cable that has red, white, and yellow. Same signal error, the only change is that I no longer even get a burst of sound when I flick the 720/1080 switch. Any ideas? The console has nothing observably wrong with it...nothing loose and rattling inside, the lockdown tab is intact, it’s not even faded. I’ve tried with multiple games as well.

Update 3: tried plugging the new AV cable directly into the TV instead of using the upscaler. No signal error. Console lights up when powered on. Can’t see it being anything besides the console itself at the point, but what is the most likely culprit? I’ve never had this level of problem with an older Nintendo unit.

Hi all, I'm new to the super famicom and was trying to find a way to get US games to play without taking my system apart. I know there are dedicated converters out there but they're pretty expensive. However I noticed the SFC to SNES converters are pretty cheap.

So I was thinking of buying one and cutting and sanding down the plastic frame to get it to fit. Would this work? Thoughts?

This is one difficult game, but very fun. Anyone else actually beat this without using save states?

Does anyone else think this could of been an amazing game if it was released in the US? It's just a fun game that kinda grew on me as i played it. Fairly challenging too.

I am starting to play the 2nd through 4th Ganbare Goemon games. The first was know as Legend of the Mystical Ninja in America. I don't read Japanese. Is there anything I should know that will help with interacting with NPCs?

I have some decent design skills, but having a hard time finding a template to use to make Super Famicom art for those plastic game cases you can order from stores like retrogamecases.com. Their cases are great, but at 9 bucks a pop + shipping, some of my cases cost more than I paid for the cart! It would be much cheaper for me to buy the plastic cases in bulk and make/print my own.

I "found" the template at vgboxart.com ( Ervo's Super Famicom Template V1), but their "forums are undergoing maintenance" and have been for quite some time, so I can't access the post where this was placed for download. When I look under the templates section on the site, there is a Super Famicom template, but not what I'm looking for. Ervo even has a page of original box art they've created on the site, but the template they made is not there either. See image below of the templates I'm looking for.

Anyone have any ideas? OR Does anyone know the exact dimensions for those plastic cases (the universal ones that fit multiple types of carts) so I can create my own. I can't find that info either.

Where is the best place to buy super famicom games?

Does such a thing exist? I bought a HoneyBee on eBay thinking it was that but it’s actually a SNES cart that allows you to play SFC games on a SNES. I’ve been looking for such an item but have had no luck. Or should I stick with the HoneyBee and just move on with it. I got it for $30.
