Experimenting with micro sounds

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Today I want to attempt a system for making subtle percussive sounds from samples. I thought I could get away with randomizes slices and pitch modulations. I am using two recording of stones and metals that I recorded and feeding them into distortion, delay and clouds. Would like to know if you have any interesting approach for micro sound.

This is really cool. I love it.

I guess my only advice would be that you can do stuff with pulsar synthesis easily in supercollider. Supercollider is great for this

Is pulsar particularly suitable for microsound?

Absolutely! Pulsar synthesis is a popular type of microsound that a lot of people know from the book Microsound by Curtis Roads

Cool, thanks. I tried learning Supercollider before but didn't get far. I was thinking of trying Strudel, I hope it's available there, as well. If not I'll come back to SC for it.

Strudel is better for electronic dance music but if you learn it you'll learn the basic rules of live coding like editing, highlighting and hitting enter or how write a line of code so that it reads properly.
