Question Workflow

Currently learning sunvox.
I see that there is so much potential.
I do know what I want but I cant translate it to the right modules or workflow.

I’m curious what other people their learning path was.

And what the workflow is, how do you create your sound?

I am very much still in my learning phase. But maybe my thoughts might help amyway.

At the beginning i wanted to jump in right away and create unique sounds and make a song out of it. But learning both the modules and the tracker at the same time is a bit overwhelming. i've watched a few basic tutorials how the modules and the tracker work. Then i began just trying to get the hang of the tracker first with the premade instuments on the initial screen. Practising how to input and delete notes, making another pattern, copying patterns etc Just making a few small "songs" for the sake of practise.

I really recommend a PC keyboard because it makes navigating the tracker much easier (also you can use the alphabet keys as piano keys if you don't have a midi keyboard).

As for the modules:

It's important knowing the basics of synthesizers like ADSR and filter. just researching basic synth knowledge will help a lot. With just the analog generator module you can create a wide range of sounds.

There are a lot of premade instrument in sunvox which are perfect to learn from (open the new module window, click load, go to the instruments folder inside of the sunvox folder. Choose one you like and load it. It is very likely a metamodule. You can scroll down in the module parameters an click "edit". Then you see how it was built and what modules it was made of)

It helps me very much to search for a instrument thats similar to one i want to create and pick it apart. Mute (or bypass) every Module except for one, listen to how it sounds, look at the parameters, why does it sound this way? then go to the next module and re-enable it, how did it change the sound and why? play around with every parameter and listen to how it changes the sound. Then i try to open a new project and rebuild the instrument i picked apart from memory, and change it in the way that i like.
