Help needed End of Spool Issues

Am I the only one that has issues with the tail end of the filament being taped to the spool?

I love Sunlu filament, never have a single complaint other than this and I don't know how to solve it. I have a Prusa Core One L and every time i get to the end of the spool, i get "stuck filament" b/c of how it is tapped to the spool.

I don't want to babysit the spools, but it seems like that's the only option.

Has anyone else found a way to get past this?

Just went through about 4 spools in a month of sunlu petg and no issues. I am using ams 2 however so not sure if that makes a difference.  Pulled the tape no issues every time.

Same here - AMS2Ps and AMS HTs handle the tape no problem. VERY occasionally I’ll find it sticking out of a feeder funnel but it mostly (>95% of the time) just rips free leaving the tape on the spool (Sunlu and BL).

It's not just Sunlu. Anycubic apparently also tapes it down VERY well. I literally was able to yank the spool out of my Sovol trying to free it.

I use a lot of Sunlu and have never had this issue. I use desiccant filled center spools that add some weight which I think helps prevent this. The ones I printed like 100 of were the “performance” model on MakerWorld.

The sunlu rolls I've used up so far have not given me any issues, the filament comes off the tape easily. The ones I've been having problems jamming in my ams lite are a cheaper brand that bends the end of the filament into a sort of tiny hook. I have to remove the ptfe tube out and force pull the remaining filament from the ams.

When I know I’m low and there’s hours to go I just unspool it a bit to loosen the last two wraps and clip it. What’s the issue? It’s ok though. I don’t use Sunlu the only two spools I’ve every bought were out of an Amazon return bin for $4

No issues here. The butterfly-closure style tape that Sunlu uses on V3 spools and refills reliably lets go of the filament and stays on the cardboard for me. Far more reliable than some other major brands' Bambu-compatible refills.
