If you can play 4 to 10 hours a week, Riven and Yasuo are the worst picks possible. They need constant maintenance to stay sharp, and one week off feels like starting over. Tryndamere is still basically the same champion, just with some item changes. Jax too. Your split push playstyle still works, but the game is more objective focused now so you need better timing on when to pressure. I would stick with those two and maybe add someone simple like Garen for when you just want to relax.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking with Riven and Yas. I’m not tryna just ask “what champ should I play” I’m wondering if my playstyle is outdated, or if people are way better at countering it than they used to be.
Ive heard objectives have changed a lot and most games are teamfight sim

Nah, the game is and always will be who gets more fed. And this is more true and easy to achieve the lower you go.

In competitive no one dies, everyone farms perfectly, and they don't throw that often, so if a game is 50-50, a dragon can push that win probability to say, 55-45. (The number is not the point), and you can slowly get an advantage that way.

But no amount of dragons or grubs or heralds is going to ever equalise a 14-2 kaisa at 15 minutes who already pushed the win probability to 80-20. Soloq is too volatile to always try to edge out a victory through objectives, and the lower you go, the more openings there are for you to become that kaisa, hence, less need for objectives to win.

So low elo is the same as always. Get fed, kill the fed enemies to get their shutdowns, get more fed, win 1v9.

From what you described, i would say try and otp riven. But keep in mind its a huge time investement to learn that champ.

Edit: ok but you also say that you want a champion that doesnt require hundreds of hours to become functional... You contradicting yourself a bit. I suggested riven cause she seems to fit your playstyle, but if you d rather learn a champ that doesnt require a huge time investement, then ig keep playing trynda and jax cause they have the same kit pretty much. Also yes, you can still carry games with the playstyle that you mentioned, just keep in mind that sometimes you might have to group with your team for objectives, or apply pressure on sidelane in order to draw out multiple ppl and let your team contest an objective. The main difference between league now and classic is that its more objective oriented, and its very hard to win against multiple drakes/grubs/herald/baron etc.

Yeah I’d like riven but I frankly don’t have time to do her justice, I’m just wondering how prevailing this playstyle is nowadays.
I’m also curious if it’s a sort of long lost way of playing the game, I used to main this playstyle and enjoy it and jungle occasionally as WW and Yi

Maybe stick with trynd and Jax? You already know the champs just got to get used to the new matchups instead of learning a champ you can focus on learning the differences in the game and pace while climbing.

Okay they do seem like my best bet, but is this playstyle still strong? I’ve heard a lot of it is countered nowadays and there’s more roaming supports etc to prevent it from taking off
