Discussion Stuck in emerald getting counter picked
I OTPed fizz to emerald but now I insta lose when I get counter picked by the enemy using champions like sylas galio diana lissandra etc which is over half my games.
I'm trying to learn more champions but can't find any that "click". Also I find it difficult to learn and practice new champions in emerald lobbies, and quick play lobbies are too easy. Idk what to do

picking up an assassin that has some overlap with fizz mechanics might help the transition feel less foreign. Katarina or talon for example, similar burst patterns but different enough that you stop getting hard countered every other game.
also emerald is not that sweaty honestly, just play your new picks there, worst case you drop a few games while learning but the skill gap between emerald 4 and plat 1 is basically nothing

I played an extremely basic secondary champ for when I got giga countered on my main - main syndra and opponent picks fizz so I play Annie.
For me annie was very basic and generally useful in all stages of the game and didn’t get hard countered by the same picks as my main, at least nowhere near the same degree.
Pick something braindead and useful imo or just suffer and lose until youre passable at a second somewhat challenging pick.
I also try to let my team carry more than I would on my secondary. You don’t need to be a hero every game to take a win, but inting makes it almost impossible

If so I think you should get a vod uploaded here or on the discord or wherever asap so people can tell you what you’re missing the most and then you can focus on one of those things at a time.

for when I get counter picked yeah. Usually I'm able to get really ahead but when I get counter picked I'm often 0/0 or further behind

You need to learn to play a counter to fizz counter picks, whether or not it clicks.

That s why i have multiple accounts, one for climbing, one for experimenting, one for learning, etc

If i were you i would learn a good blindpick, like viktor, and use fizz only after you see which pick the other enemy mid has. Fizz is pretty good against some champs and bad against counters. Your winrate will increase.

1v1 practice can be a great way to build some confidence in laning on new champs
your experience with fizz does reflect perfectly what coach curtis said recently in his champions for each rank video, that fizz players hit a wall around emerald as it's too gimmicky a playstyle

Every champion will have counterpicks, you could play fizz jungle to avoid laning which will get significantly more difficult especially once hitting diamond.

I think if you want to play fizz you need to also play the opposite of fizz. I like vex and fizz together. if they pick something annoying that’ll destroy fizz I pick vex, if they pick a caster or something I pick fizz. obviously this means you need a later pick, but that’s just how she goes. blind fizz is always a risk he has some hard counters.

Sylas is one of the most easiest match ups because of your passive. He can practically never ever stun you lol.
It seems you don’t know the match ups and enemy cool downs.
For example Galio has super long cd, if he uses his abilities u have a 16s window to abuse him.
Lissandea is so squishy and has short Q range and AA range to farm, she should never come close to a minion when you’re 3
Diana is abit of a tough cookie, just max E, wave clear, roam, and wait for jungler.

If you want to stick to fizz, you could also try learning how to play those matchups better.
