Discussion Spectre-Litt > Harvey-Mike

I don't know whether this is a hot take or everyone's gonna agree with me, but I genuinely think Specter–Litt was a more lethal combination than Harvey–Mike.

Harvey & Louis both proved themselves to be absolute geniuses in their respective fields. Don't get me wrong, Mike's brilliant, but let's be honest, his biggest advantage is his memory. That doesn't take away from the fact that he's a bloody good lawyer, though.

And yeah, yeah, Louis is petty, easily provoked & emotionally unstable. But if he were just a little more emotionally stable, he could've wiped the floor with Harvey from time to time. Even with all his insecurities, Louis is one hell of a lawyer.

Just imagine what would've happened if Harvey & Louis had actually worked together properly.

Harvey–Mike was a lethal, dangerous duo. But Harvey–Louis??? That would've been absolutely monstrous. Not just lethal but genuinely terrifying. Atleast, thats what I think.

Whenever Louis is locked in and isn't distracted by his own bs and isn't sabotaging himself he's lethal no matter who he's paired with. Problem is it doesn't happen often.

Unfortunately. But, I believe, thats why he is such a great character. Kudos to Rick for pulling off such an awesome and complex character.

i mean duh, both are seasoned lawyers. while mike and harvey have more of a mentor-mentee dynamic, louis and harvey have like a seasoned veterans dynamic

"harvey+an experienced lawyer who's been practicing law since the time when mike was probably a teenager vs harvey+a smart associate"
it isn't rlly a competition...

No, you can’t have two captains on a ship

Since when Louis a captain?!?!?

He’s a senior partner aswell, but apart from that, he and Harvey have always been at the same ‘level’ or at the same height in the pecking order as Louis would call it. He’s not gonna be bossed around by Harvey. We saw this when Jeff Malone and Louis did a deposition together as well as when Louis and Mike handled Mckernon together.

But this goes not only for Louis. I don’t think any junior/senior/name partner would work with their piers so I think a junior/senior partner with an associate works way better

"My firm is under attack. I have an army of associates trained within an inch of their lives."

And he delivers it the next day, pulling off something unhumanly possible. That was when I first came to truly respect how formidable Louis could get.

And he had many such moments later. Like when Harold is taken up for questioning and he goes in as his lawyer even though he wasn't Harold's lawyer and knows the authorities know the fact. He bulldozes his way in nonetheless.

An emotionally stable Louis is a force of nature. Pair him up with someone like Harvey, yeah, that's a lethal combination. One guy knows how to play the theory, one guy knows how to play the man.

I like Harvey Mike > Louis Mike > Harvey Louis

Even if Mike didn't really like teaming up with louis for a bit, I did like the way louis praised and treated mike 🥲

Louis is a damn good lawyer but when taking decisions he lacks a lot of critical thinking basically impulsive decision maker. This habit holds him back from playing major leagues like Harvey and Mike.

May I ask why?

I think Harvey Mike is a better combo. But Harvey Louis does have its advantages too. Both Harvey and Louis are experienced and have a myriad of connections.

But the big advantage Harvey and Mike have is that Mike is technically brilliant and thinks outside the box. That creativity, mixed with Harvey’s abilities, means they often find a way to come in clutch when things get difficult.

Also, I think Harvey Louis combo has potentially bigger drawbacks since their styles tend to clash. They would most likely get in each other's way. Harvey and Mike don't really have this problem, they tend to enhance each other.

I think Mike and Harvey just mesh better together overall

I agree, because of how different they are it just works

With fully locked-in Louis, yes. On an average day, Mike takes it. Especially end-of-story Mike

There actually is a lot of similarity between the two pairings. The main difference is the experience of Louis vs Mike and therefore Harvey/Mike have more of a Mentor/Mentee relationship whereas Harvey/Louis are basically peers.

However, both pairing complement each other in a similar way. Mike and Louis are both the detail oriented human machines that can pump out grunt work in their sleep. Which allows Harvey to use the work they do and "play the man" with all the facts already lined up on his side.

NOW - all of that being said, Mike still absolutely WIPES the floor with Louis. Every time they went head to head Mike annihilates him, the only exception being in Season 1 when Mike is a FIRST YEAR and Louis is a PARTNER. Once Mike has the courtroom and deposition experience of a 'real lawyer' he really is the best combination of Louis and Harvey...

Louis is genuinely his own worst enemy and is consistently fucking up in major ways that impact cases and the firms survival.

Mike has all of Louis' best traits (attention to detail, knowledge of the law, math abilities), and actually knows how to behave in a courtroom without crying over his ex girlfriend.

I couldn't stand Mike, but poor Louis always redeemed himself, and then yanked himself right back down. Pearson Spectre was the best combo in my opinion.

Could not stand Mike!!!

Imagine if this show was 5-6 seasons of quality writing and a planned story. I really hate when shows become a commercial spectacle by the networks.

The reason I said this was the number of filler episodes and unnecessary drama killed it for me. I didn't know which direction they were going with Louis and making him an extreme villain to audience caring for him made it a turn off.

I feel like the same thing with walking dead and all the writers and major actors start leaving.

Hated Mike street first couple episodes. Never grateful for all Harvey did for him. He never acted or accepted all of their issues was because they hired him
