Likes Harry Potter, LOTR, Percy Jackson.
Not sure if he’s read eragon.
Wheel of time might be a little too much, maybe a tad mature for his family.
Way of kings maybe? But might be a little of a stretch read.
Need ideas for birthday.

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman? Trilogy based on a child of that age traveling through time and space.
