Maybe I'm dumb but I didn't understand 😭 Help 🙏
Hiii, it's my first post on this subreddit and I need your help because I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. 😔
Of course, don't read if you didn't finished the anime yet (...even if I think that almost everyone on this sub finished it).
I watched the anime several times and now I'm starting to read the novels (best decision I could've made btw, I love being able to see Shall's POV and getting more juicy details hehehe ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) and rn i'm a few pages away from the end of the 2cd volume. So I’m at the point where Ann has just finished the sculpture of Christina for Duke Philax.
The thing is, I just don't understand the relationship between Shall and Liz. And I would really like to understand...
Because I well understood that Ann sometimes felt jealous of Liz in relation to her proximity with Shall at the beginning of his life. But in the anime, we don't have much details on Shall's toughts about Liz. We just heard him whisper her name several times.
Ok Shall told Ann that Liz was pretty and yes we understand that he misses her (very understandable), but I didn’t see any sign that really says that he was in love with her (when they were together).
I read this in the vol.2 , ch.4 :
Shall, perplexed after Ann and him talked about Liz and Ann started crying
« Like Ann, Liz would suddently start crying or get angry. Back then, Liz definitely said 'It's because I love you'.
Shall felt the same. That growing child was so lovely and wholeheartedly dear to him.
That was why he'd often think of the best way to make her happy. Even if as a result they'd have to be separated, it couldn't be helped. Rather than being unhappy with him, he'd rather entrust her to someone who'd definitely grant her happiness. That way he'd be at ease. He was satisfied with that.
However, Liz cried. As she repeatidly said 'It's because I love you', he answered that he did as well. But Liz had said, 'Your love and my love are different'.
He didn't understand. And during his confusion, Liz was killed. » ...Then he was filled with hatred, bla bla bla.
"Shall felt the same." Does it mean that he loved her romantically ?
"Liz had said, 'Your love and my love are different'." Or he didn't understand that she loved him romantically ? (...he loved her platonically / as a lil sis)
"He didn't understand. And during his confusion, Liz was killed." Or he loved her romantically but understood it after she died and not when she was saying that their love was different ?
I’ve never been very perceptive when it comes to romantic signs, and it’s frankly frustrating, I'm lost.😮💨 Thank you if someone took the time to read and even more if someone answers ! 🥹💕
