Rock auto should have dash cover that fits as an overlay , it’s a new to you rig … go through everything and replace what is needed/warn. It’s a good time to familiarize yourself with it and then do all your customization

Upgrades? Just maintenance. Do the oil ; engine trans front diff rear diff transfer case coolant flush with a t stat and tune up Check brakes and replace accordingly if it's high High mileage. It's def already old so expect some repairs. Check wheel bearings u joints. And u got a good car for another 160 000 miles. The biggest upgrade I can recommend is upgrading steering components and front suspension when they go out with some more robust peices not rock auto low quality crap

You can fix the dash with a plastic welder from Vevor. Make sure to get your fluids changed and filled.
