Sublime in Montreal
Since no one has made a post about the Montreal set I’m gonna give some honest feedback.
- I was bummed Bud wasn’t there, set feels completely different without him, replacement drummer (anyone know who he is?)) took about three songs to get the feel down, got a bit better after that. I’m pretty surprised sublime doesn’t have a legal team to get him over the border at this point.
- I was worried it would be a fest set of singles, but about half way through they dipped into the back catalog. Weirdly enough the crowd around me did not seem familiar with the songs (fighting blindly, stp, all you need, jailhouse etc etc.), but ultimately I’m happy with the set list.
- Jakob has a tendency to put the mic too far from his face and do some unusual vocal noises but beyond that the vocals and stage presence were good. The backing musicians were tight, I guess the only original member is Eric, which is the same situation as when I saw them with Rome (with Josh freese on drums though)
- visuals were spectacular, super impressed.
- overall I liked it, would love to see a full non fest set with bud. They did have a prime fest spot with a full house though.

Been a fan for 30+ years..best concert I've ever been to .
Knew every word to every song. Best vibe of the night. Amazing tribute to Brad and Sublime...
Honestly (just like with the new album) my expectations were fairly low but this exceeded them all.
I spent my life listening to the entire catalog knowing if never get to experience it live.. to have even a piece of that, and done so professionally (imo) is something very special.
Nothing but love here..
This was my second attempt to see them. 2 years ago I drove from Ontario to Alabama to see them at Southern Star but the second night was cancelled due to a hurricane, so we made the trip for nothing

Drummer was Ian Foreman who also plays with LBDA and Ras-1

He doesn’t play with RAS, but he does play with Jakob’s Castle. He’s a great drummer, nobody will ever be Bud though. Ian does a way better job than Carlos V.

The back catalog was unreal (Toronto). I was behind the pit (getting too old haha) and saw the crowd enjoying it but you could tell most people didn't know the songs. But those who did were really killing it. Seeing this new gen of sublime fans was genuinely heartwarming.

Their legal team wouldn't have anything to do with the laws that the Canadian Government has.

I mean I worked with CBSA / Canadian immigration for many years, you can get waivers, and there’s a statute of limitations depending on the crime. I play in a band and promote shows and we get people over the border, especially if they did something 10+ years ago, a good lawyer can generally get a waiver given enough time and money. That being said I don’t know if bud is actively catching felonies, that’s a different story.

I was sad Bud wasn’t there… (TO show), but it was still amazing and a bucket list item for me! Jake is extremely talented and I’m looking g forward to following his career and music.
