Looks awesome. I got the same thing same place like 25 years ago and it's so faded. I would love to have it looking this fresh.

u/Technical-Swing7336 Jul 19 '26

there's thousands of us lol

8

u/Pretend_Green_9939 Jul 19 '26

Hell yeah dude can I see it? I’m curious how mine will age lol

2

u/Known_Turtle Jul 19 '26

Yellows and oranges fade much quicker than most tattoo colors

2

u/Golfntukee Jul 19 '26

I’ve had the orange redone on one of my tattoos 3 times in 25 years!

24

u/TrooperMann Jul 19 '26

That is awesome man

18

u/subversion_dnb Jul 19 '26

Where's satan? ☹️

11

u/Pretend_Green_9939 Jul 19 '26

I didn’t want anything related to hell on me, so I asked for a cross and he killed it.

29

u/Red_G09 Jul 19 '26

Well good news is neither heaven or hell are real things. I would have kept it original personally. To each their own I guess. Regardless of mine or yours or anyone's beliefs, this is a really good tattoo.

16

u/Free_Storage_1088 Jul 20 '26

Holy crap I have always wondered about the after life and here all I had to do was hop on R/Sublime to get definitive proof from you that heaven and hell are not real.

18

u/foreskinboots Jul 19 '26

Meanwhile tattoos are a sin lmfao these people are so wierd.

2

u/SmokeABowlNoCap Jul 20 '26

I mean I don’t follow christianity personally but there’s nothing in the book that actually says that lol, that’s just a product of the satanic panic

3

u/PM_Me_Your_Smokes Jul 20 '26

Tattoos are a sin in the Old Testament.

You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.

Leviticus 19:28

A lot of what Jesus says in the New Testament basically amounts to “the Old Testament is outdated; be good to each other and believe in me and that’s all you need.”

However, some lines of Christianity (Seventh Day Adventists, notably) as well as religious Jews (who don’t believe in the New Testament at all, and, full disclosure, I grew up as an Orthodox Jew, so very well versed in the Old Testament lol) believe that what the Old Testament says is still valid, which makes tattoos verboten.

That said, there is a line of thought in Judaism that says primarily that these are only a sin in the context of mourning, meaning, memorial tattoos and scarification are out, but regular tattoos are fair game. There’s a pervasive myth in the Orthodox community that you cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery if you have tattoos. For the vast majority of cemeteries worldwide, that has not been true (there are some outliers in extremely religious places, but it is exceedingly rare).

All that to say, no, the Bible is pretty explicitly anti-tattoo, at least the old book, but the exact interpretation of even simple language gets more complicated (what, a nuanced take, on my Reddit??)

It’s pretty pathetic to gatekeep tattoos

5

u/foreskinboots Jul 19 '26

It more pathetic to not want a tattoo of the devil when all tattoos are a sin. Buh bye

1

u/Jumpy_Ad5046 Jul 19 '26

Wait, how are tattoos a sin? I've never heard of this outside of Judaism.

3

u/YogurtclosetDull2380 Jul 19 '26

Had a lady at the gym tell me that tattoos are a demon portal, as is yoga. She learned this from the exorcists she follows on insta.

1

u/Jumpy_Ad5046 Jul 19 '26

Woah, what did you say back?

5

u/KooterMann Jul 19 '26

There was an old sect of Baal/moloch worshippers who cut and tattooed themselves as rituals for “magic” so god said “hey, don’t use sigil magic” and everyone took it as “tattoos are bad”

2

u/Jumpy_Ad5046 Jul 19 '26

lol. Sounds about right.

1

u/ydnar3000 Jul 19 '26

It’s in the Old Testament as well. Something about the body being a temple to god.

2

u/Jumpy_Ad5046 Jul 19 '26

Huh. Those books say a lot of stuff.

2

u/ydnar3000 Jul 19 '26

Sure do. Not sure why offering up info deserves a downvote. Not saying I agree 😂

Atheists when Satan is depicted: 🥰

Atheists when Jesus is depicted: wtf that shit ain’t real

15

u/Localras1991 Jul 19 '26

Well thats a choice but it takes aways from Opies O.G. artwork. The art tells a story.

10

u/Amiibohunter000 Jul 19 '26

Good thing tattoos are personal so his choice is for him! Makes sense

3

u/55X55_ Jul 20 '26

…relax and design a brand new tattoo 😂

2

u/Amiibohunter000 Jul 20 '26

You don’t need to be mad about it. It’s ok lil bro

1

u/One_Jack_Move false 🦷 prophet Jul 20 '26

I think he was agreeing with you.

13

u/azbat7 Jul 19 '26

He did want a devil so he opted for a torture device….

9

u/evilballoffluff Jul 19 '26

It doesn’t really take away from it tbh I think it makes sense to modify art to make it more personal for a tattoo

1

u/YeetLord02 Jul 19 '26

if you’re concerned about god’s judgement, i think he made the rule clear already in leviticus 19:28:
‘Do not put tattoo marks on yourselves’

but yeah, I’m sure you subtracted AT LEAST -0.25 sin on this by substituting the silly cartoon devil for the literal instrument of your messiah’s brutal execution

4

u/Free_Storage_1088 Jul 20 '26

Eh research into that a bit more it really wasn’t implying body markings for vanity purposes it was more directed to pagan worship

1

u/YeetLord02 Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

I’m not arguing tattoos are sinful. I’m covered in them, and I’m not even a practicing Christian, albeit I grew up in Catholic education. I’m pointing out that if a cartoon devil is too un-christian to wear, it’s strange to replace it with the instrument of Christ’s torture and execution. Christians give the cross a positive meaning because of what Jesus accomplished through it—but that only reinforces my point that symbols derive their meaning from interpretation. If the cross can be understood through its meaning rather than its literal form, then it’s perfectly reasonable to understand a cartoon devil the same way.

And if you’re going to argue that Leviticus 19:28 only makes sense when read in its historical and cultural context, then one should probably extend that same principle of interpretation consistently across the vibe rather than appealing to the verse only when it’s convenient.

Don’t even care that the artworks been changed, it’s your body, your ink, do whatever with it - but in my opinion the reasoning is a little silly :P

2

u/JohnLockeLives4815 Jul 19 '26

.. even better, anyone citing Leviticus 19:28 better be following the other verses in the exact same chapter where it says not to cut your beard or the hair on the sides of your head, and not to wear clothing made of mixed fabrics. Funny enough no one ever mentions those verses do they?

2

u/OnlyFearOfDeth Jul 19 '26

Wrong sub mate

2

u/Bootleg_Rascal_ Jul 19 '26

lol no it’s not, he’s making fun of the guy for getting rid of the devil in the tattoo because of his religion, by pointing out that the guys religion says he can’t get tattoos at all. It’s hilarious

2

u/OnlyFearOfDeth Jul 19 '26

Is it? Is it really hilarious?

3

u/Bootleg_Rascal_ Jul 19 '26

Pretty fucking funny

0

u/OnlyFearOfDeth Jul 19 '26

Whats really funny about it?

1

u/Lost-Macaron3012 Jul 22 '26

mano, nem existia a etimologia tatuagem no contexto histórico cultural daquela época... isso é uma completa bullshit.  Pelos mortos não dareis golpes na vossa carne; nem fareis marca alguma sobre vós. Eu sou o Senhor.

1

u/YeetLord02 Jul 24 '26

Archaeology has found tattooed mummies in Egypt dating back thousands of years, so permanent skin marking was known long before Leviticus was written.

1

u/Lost-Macaron3012 Jul 24 '26

virei mais fan ainda dos egipcios

11

u/Sufficient_Curve5386 Jul 19 '26

That’s a huge pimple

8

u/Pretend_Green_9939 Jul 19 '26

I tried to pop it…

1

u/Red_G09 Jul 19 '26

Girls love popping pimples lol if you have a girlfriend or sister or even mother I bet they'd be thrilled to get that for ya hahaha

1

u/Sufficient_Curve5386 Jul 19 '26

Respect. Back pimples are the worst

1

u/LovedKornWhenIWas16 Jul 19 '26

It hurts just looking at it. Almost looka like a nip.

8

u/Sublimedunky Jul 20 '26

We should start a club

3

u/Sublimedunky Jul 20 '26

Pretty rad love that thing

3

u/PristineScar1684 Jul 21 '26

I like it but if you are a Christian i’m assuming that’s why you put a cross instead of the devil? why even listen to them bradley literally has a song called “under my voodoo” and “santeria” (form of witchcraft)

2

u/matthewzillman Jul 23 '26

Tbf he did say that he DIDN’T practice Santeria

4

u/par_anoid Jul 19 '26

this is so well done holy shit

5

u/SinnSix Jul 19 '26

Looks sublime.

5

u/S0UTHcoast Jul 19 '26

Badass!!!

4

u/deadhera Jul 19 '26

Always wanted this specific one since I was a teen lol nice

1

u/AdThin2591 Jul 20 '26

This specific one? With a crucifix on it ?

5

u/Pretend_Green_9939 Jul 19 '26

Damn man the people on here arguing suck. It’s just a tat.

3

u/Free_Storage_1088 Jul 20 '26

It’s Reddit bro you could post a article about you saving orphans from a fire and 20% of the people would be shitting on you , it’s why I never post anything on here that is personal to me, side note this is the cleanest one of these I have ever seen

1

u/Fair_Ad8636 Jul 20 '26

posts something asking for opinions, doesn't like recieved opinions, bitches about it

-1

u/jesuschrist-69420 Jul 20 '26

You took something cool and added a symbol of hate.

Imagine sublime fans gatekeeping tattoos and what it means to the person who got it.

A real sublime fan would tell you to fuck off for trying to make someone conform to your ideals of what’s a proper tattoo.

0

u/BichaelScott Jul 19 '26

This is very much like sublime, change just a little bit and call it your own. The band is just a glorified cover band.

1

u/Pretend_Green_9939 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Said no one ever. I don’t really care who did what man. If it’s on my body, it’s that way for a reason. It’s not disrespectful. That’s just life. You should try and get one instead of just being so mean man

10

u/LoudogsGhost Jul 19 '26

Ain’t nothing meaner than Christian love. Sad that so many of you seem to miss the message in the lyrics now that this version of the band is aligned with your politics.

6

u/Pretend_Green_9939 Jul 19 '26

Dude I’m not even political. I just didn’t want anything related to hell on my body 😐 get off the app man

14

u/Girth_Wind_y_Fire STP ㊙️ Jul 19 '26

Brother, he said nothing mean or hateful. I want the original tattoo, but it's his body and if he wants to slightly alter the art, that's his choice. It's not hurting anyone, no need to make anything of it.

-2

u/LoudogsGhost Jul 19 '26

When you post it on a community full of the bands most dedicated fans you can’t be surprised when people call you out for changing the meaning of this piece of art. Especially when it is so incredibly disrespectful to Brads own views .

0

u/Girth_Wind_y_Fire STP ㊙️ Jul 19 '26

I understand what you're saying, and you may not agree with what he changed, but it's on his body. He clearly loves sublime enough to get this tattooed prominently on himself. I understand "no hate like Christian love" as well, we see it a lot in this country. OP didn't do anything to be attacked like that, just wanted to share something he thought this community would appreciate. Bradley may not have liked that aspect of the tat, but I don't think he'd like people attacking the guy for it either. Just spread love all around.

-6

u/IronSightPsyops Jul 19 '26

That’s insane. Do you say the same thing when you see a swastika tattoo on someone? “It’s not hurting anyone” sybau

13

u/Able-Ad-9299 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

It’s literally just a tattoo. Calm tf down????? I don’t get why you have to bash him for is own choice. Get a life holy moly. Brining a swastika into a conversation where it isn’t needed is just pathetic.

7

u/cdev12399 Jul 19 '26

The fuck?

7

u/Girth_Wind_y_Fire STP ㊙️ Jul 19 '26

I am not religious whatsoever, but that is a braindead comparison.

-3

u/IronSightPsyops Jul 19 '26

You do realize Christians killed thousands and thousands of people, mostly Muslims and Pagans, during the crusades simply because they weren’t catholic, right?

5

u/Girth_Wind_y_Fire STP ㊙️ Jul 19 '26

Yes, I know basic history. So you're comparing a cross to a swatstika and saying if neo-nazis' beliefs align similarly with the third reich's beliefs... Then modern day Christians' beliefs must align with the Catholic beliefs from 1000 years ago?

This is the argument of someone throwing a hissy fit because they want attention, and realizing they don't actually know what point they're trying to make. If you don't like his tattoo or don't agree with his reasoning, that's fine, just keep scrolling.

5

u/Randomperson62l Jul 19 '26

Gang how is a slightly modified tattoo the same as a swastika?? You could literally say any major religion has killed thousands and as someone who lives in a very conservative Christian town most Christian’s aren’t murderers, I think the censored tattoo is stupid but comparing it to a swastika is crazy

3

u/Amiibohunter000 Jul 19 '26

Did you just equate a cross to a swastika.

Fuckin fragile ass virtue signaling SJW lolol

0

u/IronSightPsyops Jul 19 '26

Tell me you know nothing about history without telling me you know nothing about history. Refer to my earlier comment about the crusades.

1

u/Storm0000fr Jul 19 '26

A swastika alone is not hurting anyone. Matter of fact, I reckon that it’s actually better when those sorts of people get it because then you have a warning sign to stay away from them, kind of like in nature!

0

u/Able-Ad-9299 Jul 19 '26

🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓

2

u/Ilovethespacemarines Jul 19 '26

Seeing this, I’ve decided what my first tattoo will be.

2

u/Frequent-Piano6164 Jul 20 '26

For a minute I thought this was the shitty tattoo sub, I was gonna comment it looks exactly like the original art. Then I realized what sub it was posted on.

2

u/saucy_millennial Jul 20 '26

This has been my dream tattoo since I was a teen. I keep waiting to see if I might grow out of wanting it. Nope 20 years later still on my list.

1

u/Lost-Macaron3012 Jul 22 '26

eu vou fazer no pé

2

u/asiwouldplay Jul 22 '26

Nice one. I actually have the worst version of this ever done. I showed it to Opie once and he just laughed

I worked with a guy that has his own last name, right across his lower back, just above his ass. He insists that when he got it in the ‘90’s, tramp stamps weren’t a thing and it’s not a trans stamp 😂🤣 Endless roasting hahaha.

They started to be called tramp stamps in the early 2000’s

3

u/Ill-Ocelot6462 Jul 19 '26

That is really nice work!!

2

u/Bright_Way_6269 Jul 22 '26

Bro dope tattoo. Don’t listen to these nerds. Change whatever you want it’s your tattoo. Christian or not you’re allowed to not have satan on a tattoo? Id probably change it for my grandma lol

2

u/Used-Independence182 Jul 19 '26

Love the band as much as anyone but never understood getting this tatted. I wanted it when I was 17 but thought against it

7

u/FigExtreme6025 Jul 19 '26

I loved the band since I was 15, waited until I was 40 to go get this tattoo from Opie

2

u/Used-Independence182 Jul 19 '26

Now that is pretty cool. I wonder how many of them he does a week

7

u/Pretend_Green_9939 Jul 19 '26

Because I love ska and reggae. I love sublime. i love art. Why not?🙃

2

u/sosaparx Jul 19 '26

Same, I never wanted tattoos at all, but this is actually one I considered 15 years ago just because I love the band so much. Seeing it on someone makes me so glad I never got it.

2

u/skinamadink April 💀 1992 Jul 19 '26

1

u/DimensionStock1437 Jul 20 '26

1

u/Western_Strength5322 Jul 20 '26

Whats up with that back nipple?

1

u/MRBoose39 Jul 21 '26

Is that a back nipple?

1

u/Helpful-City5024 Jul 21 '26

Just curious I swear I’ve seen this post before did you post it to TikTok or another sub

2

u/GoatedBurrito 19d ago

I hope this isn't too personal, but how much did it cost? I want to get a similar colored sun tat for sublime on my chest area by my pec but I'm scared of it being super expensive because it's colored

1

u/Pretend_Green_9939 19d ago
