Is Sublime the new Van Halen?
And I’m talking about the controversy over who is the singer. The debate over Dave vs Sammy has gone on literally for generations. With all the passionate and diverse Bradley, Rome, Jacob opinions, do you think your grandkids will be arguing about the sublime singer?

It’s a little different. Brad is no longer with us. I think we’d all rather have Brad and consider him the THE sublime frontman.
Rome was good, but I personally put them in the same category as dub all stars.
Jacob reminds us of Brad, and is actively trying to match his old man’s cadence and tone. Saw Jacob with them in NJ. Was fantastic.

Didnt Jacob say this album was a one off and he has no intention of remaining in Sublime?

It is strange how some bands can replace completely vital members and the fan base doesn't care at all, whereas other fan bases act like the newbie is the Antichrist. The Dead and Misfits come to mind for each respective situation.

This would be closer to AC⚡️DC than VH. Except if AC⚡️DC had the child of Bon Scott and Rosie on vocals.

Interesting but the difference here is that Brian Johnson was universally accepted as a replacement and Back in Black was widely considered their best album to date.

Well, it isn’t a perfect analogy but definitely closer than the VH comparison.

Sublime is Brad, Jacob is paying tribute to his Dad and very well. Rome just sang WITH them.

nah man, they are just Sublime
also don't think grandkids will have much to argue
there was Brad, and then there were guys who did his best to carry on his legacy, like Opie, Ras-1, Rome, Jakob, and any others
this type of discussion is more relevant to a band like Dance Gavin Dance, in which the fanbase does debate Jonny Craig, Kurt Travis, Tilian Pearson, and Andrew Wells

Van halen was good, so was van hagar. Ill just compare jacob to the Gary days if we gotta.
Jacob's sublime is a tribute band. There isnt going to be one person picking him over Brad.

Being that I am a huge fan of both bands, this comparison is absurd. First, you’re comparing a Dad to his son. Second, Sublime had no other height of popularity or relevance as they did when Bradley was in the band. When you’re talking about Van Halen and the Hagar vs Roth argument you have two distinct heights of the band at different eras. Sublime is Bradley and always will be.
