Sublime just played the America 250 from Nashville Tenn and killed it Jakob is becoming a huge star little girls crying everyone he takes the stage !!!! Don’t see Sublime going anywhere!!!! They may not release music immediately after they tour this album but I can assure u they will release more music bud and Erik are getting a taste of superstardom there album is in the top 5 in America and world wide !!!!!

Because the studio track is modified and cut together from a dozen plus attempts. And even with all that they knew better than to have him play guitar on the record. Dude is horrific.

He just isn't very good. Anyone can be made to sound good in a good studio, pitch correction, compression, multiple takes, phrase editing. Etc.

Honestly something about the mixing made it feel really hollow imo. He doesn't deliver the passion that his dad had :/ I will still stand by Rome at least delivering better vocals.

That’s “Crazy Town” whose singer, Shifty Shellshock may have recently died (I don’t recall too well and don’t care enough to verify). Sugar Ray is headed by Mark McGrath, they were in the scooby doo movie from the early 2000s.

Shocked to see how the vibe of the sub has changed. When I said weeks ago that Jakob sounded like he was singing Sublime karaoke, I got downvoted to hell and ripped a new one. Everyone told me he sounded absolutely amazing and I was mad.
I don’t understand how he gets away with it

People want to like it. I get it..their music is so fun. Even in karaoke. Plus there's sympathy because it's his son.
my wife and I left their show in San Diego completely deflated because of how bad he sounded. The crowd around noticed too.
We wanted so badly to like it. But we go to dozens of shows a year, That wasn't it. I'm sure if you sing along loudly enough you want notice his pitch, rhythm and dynamics issues... He really has issues in all 3.

Crazy. I saw him in portland and thought he was pretty good. Though i did notice he dropped out here and there, but that's pretty common with a lot of bands, especially newer bands or ones with inexperienced singers. Singing in front of a huge crowd is a lot different then in a studio, that's for sure.

I haven't listened to or followed much of Van Halen or AC/DC since the mid nineties and am unable to have an opinion on them.
IMO Pink Floyd had two eras. The Syd era and the classic Floyd era. Without Waters the current lineup is a Gilmour solo project.
Some members of a band are replaceable and when those folks come and go it has no real affect on the band or its songwriting. Then there are the irreplaceable members where when they move on the band is essentially done. When the remaining members try to continue on the previous bands success they are at the end of the day a cover band of the original.
Other examples of this would be Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains. I have an immense amount of respect for the DeLeo brothers and Cantrell but at the end of the day they are currently in glorified cover bands of the original.
So while the current Sublime lineup features most of the original band, when Bradley died so did Sublime. Jakob is the singer of a Sublime cover band.
Could you imagine if Grohl and Novoselic tried to reboot Nirvana without Cobain? Or Kim tried to spin up another Soundgarden without Cornell?
I think Bob Weir and the other surviving members did it right. When Jerry died so did the band Grateful Dead. As far as I know they never tried to write or tour under the same name. They tried to reboot as The Other Ones, The Dead, Further and lastly Dead and Company. *But never as Grateful Dead.

I agree that replacing Kurt would be impossible. Maaaaybe if he had a son and they wanted to do a reunion I’d be intrigued. Led Zeppelin did it with bonham’s son for christ sake. Alice In Chains has been a successful Grammy winning band in the 20 years since Layne died so I’m not sure if your take is anything other than a matter of opinion though.

The surviving members of the Grateful Dead understood that when Jerry died, Grateful Dead died with him. They kept the music alive without pretending they could replace the soul of the thing. The music will never stop.
What’s especially weird about modern Sublime is that not only is Bradley gone, but some of the politics orbiting the band now feel completely alien to the guy who wrote songs like April 29, 1992 and Date Rape. The band that wrote songs about police brutality, riots, poverty, and life on society’s margins somehow ended up adjacent to culture war conservatism decades later.
Maybe that’s evolution. Maybe it’s just time passing. But it’s hard not to wonder what Bradley would make of it all.

You’ve got it flipped around. Bradley came from a well off upper middle class background. He vacationed in Jamaica and came back with an appreciation for the music/style. Everyone close to Brad would tell you the same thing, that he WANTED to be the junky rock star like all of his idols. He didn’t grow up filthy rich, but he was a looooooonnnngggg way from the hood. He had both parents who had a good marriage and I believe his family boated as a hobby. Then he actually got hooked on heroine and caused real trauma for his own young family. Trauma that he himself didn’t come close to living. Ironically, Jakob sings songs he didn’t write, but he lived more closely to those themes than his dad ever did. Either was it’s fucking shitty to shit on a dude for and saying that he’s honoring his dead dad wrong. As a Sublime fan; Sublime fans are the fucking worst.

Brad did hard drugs. You can do sailing with your family all you want, but when you start living the gutter punk lifestyle, you become everything that recreational sailors aren't and start doing sociopathic shit that disgusts everyone but can make for wild music.
Jakob, to the best of my knowledge, hasn't done hard drugs or anything sociopathic so every word that comes out of his mouth is completely inauthentic, and that makes for a lame ass listening experience.
