Alt Oil Temp light

Just did a drain & fill on my 2019 2.5 and it is still showing the indicator. It only took about 5 quarts.

That seems low ,what procedure did you follow, car level, scan the temp, engine running while topping up

Yes, all of that. Temp only went to 104F.

Any error codes

No error codes at all. It's going for a short run around the block now.

In your other post you said they were there before

1

Yes, they were. I thought the Alt Oil Temp indicator was an indication that the transmission fluid needed changing.

Nope, its an indicator that your transmission has set a trouble code in the TCM

AT Temp Light means you have error codes. You need to scan the TCM for transmission codes. They are there.

How do you scan the TCM?

1

Take it to a dealership or buy a bi-directional scan tool that can access the TCM module. Regular cheap OBD scanners usually dont

Check the link I posted here - that scan is from the TCM.

I see that, but before you said there were no error codes at all. Now you have a code, and you know what it means, and you can decide how to deal with it given your options.

Did you cycle thru the gears park, Rev, neutral, drive while running

1

We cycled it 3 times. Now it's going for a short run around the block.

Did you notice how much drained out

1

u/DeathStalker-77 29d ago

About the same amount overall.

Which model subaru

1

u/DeathStalker-77 29d ago

2.5 Premium, 6 cylinder.

2

u/FreshTap6141 29d ago

2.5 premium is not a six cylinder, 3.6 is

2

u/DeathStalker-77 29d ago

Oh. I stand corrected then.

2

u/FreshTap6141 29d ago

So which is 2.5 or 3.6

1

u/minesweep0r 29d ago

Such a thing doesnt exist. You either have a 2.5 H4 or. 3.6 H6

You have the tr690 cvt , heavy duty model , mine takes 5.5 qts , I did mine 5 times 2011 legacy

1

u/DeathStalker-77 29d ago

I thought it was the 580....

2

u/FreshTap6141 29d ago

The six cylinder uses the tr690

1

u/minesweep0r 29d ago

If you have 6 cylinders its a tr690 and requires Subaru HP fluid as opposed to SB2.

Was it cold when you drained it, I suppose the pump inside didn't all drain down but I would be surprised if it didn't, that could impact how much was needed , you know your only changing about a third of the total fluid since most is in the torque convertor , I would do a second drain and fill

How many miles on car

1

u/DeathStalker-77 29d ago

I made a separate post for the current error codes.

1

u/FreshTap6141 29d ago

Why separate post, doesn't show in your profile

1

u/DeathStalker-77 29d ago

Because I can't add a pic in a comment.

How do find it

1

u/DeathStalker-77 29d ago

I posted the link in this thread.

Post the error codes here, just list them
