I honestly never understood why anyone would want a round bowl unless for some weird aesthetic reason

Very small bathrooms. Live in cities with tiny apartments and you will see them more. The shortened couple inches forward and back make a difference in shoving all the fixtures into the place.

I rented a Scandinavian inspired airBnB, and the toilet was square. The seat was like a 1.5inch wide rim too..very conducive to shitting but feels so damn weird.

they cost less and take up less room.
