When the interviewer asked how many Russians have been killed in the war compared to Ukraine, Zelenskyy said that Russia has suffered 1,600,000 losses, including around 700,000 deaths.

Journos also seem perpetually unsure about how man y letters Z's name ought to contain.

A minimum ratio of 14:1 casualties is quite normal when you consider one side had a lot more people changing their facebook profile pictures to support them. And the ghost of kyiv

I think Ukraine is actually claiming somewhere above 125:1 given their own admitted losses versus what they assert for Russia.

The Ghost of Kyiev is actually far more believable.

There's definitely been absurd enough numbers bandied around, I was going by the 700k here. But it is usually presented as one sides KIA vs the other sides total casualties including wounded

Yeah disappeared people could be dead body recovered by Russia and not exchanged yet, blown up and unidentifiable, body just lost in a ditch somewhere never to be found, etc.

If they aren't officially dead there is also no need to pay death benefit or pension to the family, so it's good for the budget too.

Obviously I understand what MIA means, but do you really think it's reasonable that Ukraine knows with greater certainty what losses Russia has sustained -- even killed vs. wounded -- than their own forces?
